1) List two reasons why “buying a computer is no easy task”?


Cost of computers
Hard to decide which elements to prioritize when buying computers

2) What are the main differences between the two types of computers?

Desktop will be cheaper and big, easier to keep cool because of more room for
powerful fans, longer lifetime, maintain optimum performance level, easy to upgrade.

Laptops are expensive and small, portable

3) What is a “processor”?
Processor is the brain of the computer.

4) How are processor size and speed measured?


Processor size measured in number of cores multiply by listed speed.

5) What is Random Access Memory (RAM)?


RAM is an extra fast form of memory, which help to handle the multitasking.

6) What is RAM function in a computer?


RAM has an ability to keep more data closely without slowly retrieving information
from hard drive.

7) How is RAM measured?


It is measure as how many millions of data transfers the RAM can make each second.

8) Google: Why is RAM called temporary memory?
RAM called temporary memory because short term memory, and from a technical
perspective, it is only capable of temporary storage. The hard drive is capable of
storing information after the computer turns off, but RAM is not.

9) Hard Drives are considered permanent storage where all applications and files are
stored. There are two types of Hard Drives. List them and explain the difference
between the two.

Explain your answer.
If I am using lot of Web applications in my computer, I do not require a larger Hard
Drive as it does not make fast access of Web applications. However, if I can have a
higher capacity RAM it will make fast access of Web applications with multitasking
capability.

Peripherals means connecting ports or connecting facilities in the computer to
network, data receive and transfer, plug and play etc.

They are different operating systems.
Mac OS : Easy to use system that keeps most things basic.
Windows: Gives more control in your operating system.

Windows operating system. Because it gives more control in most important aspect in
the computer.

16) Google: How do you measure screen resolution?


Screen resolution is generally measured as width x height in pixels.
The display resolution measured in pixels per inch (PPI)

17) Google: What is the meaning of integrated graphics?


Integrated graphics: which is built into the computer’s processor and relies on the
computer’s memory. Normally this is a lower performance graphic component.

18) What is the most important thing to consider when buying a computer?
Buyer should be very patient.

19) Why should you wait for price reductions (Sale)?


To save money and that money can be utilize to upgrade computer specifications.

20) At the end of the article it states, “One Last Tidbit.” What is it?

It is better to purchase computer with the required components all together to obtain a
sales discount. Because we may not get a discount for the computer initially, but
sales person may give discounts to the other required components when we buy it all
together.
