spelling. Both bit their fingernails. Both had a headache at the same time
every day. Both Jims drove the same calor and kind of car: a blue Chevrolet.
In sports, they were alike, too. Both disliked baseball and liked football. The
twins had the same job. They both worked as policemen. They even had the
same hobby, making things with wood. Finally, both Jims took a vacation
every year at the same beach in Florida.

4 The twins were very happy to finally meet each other. Jim Springer said
something was missing from his life before he met his twin. Jim Lewis said the
same thing. Now, they know what was missing. Now, they know who it was.

Hangul Day
A Holiday to Celebrate the Korean Alphabet
An Alphabet with Its Own Holiday contests to choose the best report about
Hangu!.
1 The Korean alphabet is called Hangul. It is
the only alphabet in the world with its own
holiday. The holiday is called Hangul Day.
The History of Hangul
Koreans celebrate Hangul Day every year on 2 Hangul Day is important because it honors
October 9th. On Hangul Day, there are the hi story of the alphabet. Many years ago,

read or write. Only rich people could go to
school and learn these skills. That changed in
1443, when the ruler of Korea, King Sejong,
decided to invent a new Korean alphabet.
King Sejong believed that all people should
be able to learn how to read and write, and his
plan worked.

The Success of Hangul

3 After King Sejong invented Hangul, all
Koreans could learn how to read and write
easily. They didn ' t have to learn thousands of
Chinese characters. They only had to learn
the twenty-four letters of the Hangul
alphabet. Each letter in the Hangul alphabet
has only one sound, and no letters are silent'.
This makes Hangu] simple to learn. King
Sejong said, "A wise person can learn Hangul
in a few hours. Even a foolish person can
learn it in ten days!" In 1443, King Sejong invented an easy new
Korean alphabet called Hangul.
4 Today, almost everyone in Korea can read
and write because Hangul is so simple. By Sejong and his alphabet, Korea has
the time most children enter school, they can one of the highest reading rates in the
