Practice Session # 03
Transient Analysis and AC Analysis of High Pass RC Filter Circuit

Objectives:

1. To use the oscilloscope and function generator to calculate, obtain and measure the
amplitude and duration (periods) of various voltage signals.
2. To draw the transient response and frequency response of simple RC circuit as High Pass
Filter.
3. To calculate maximum absolute gain, decibel gain, 3dB gain, corner frequencies and
bandwidth.
4. To meet above objectives using Multisim Electronic Workbench

Apparatus / Tools Required:


1. CRO - 1 No.
2. Function Generator - 1 No.
3. Resistors (1 KΩ or as per design - 1 No.
4. Capacitors (0.1 µF or as per design) - 1 No.
5. Bread Board - 1 No.
6. Connecting wires
7. PC installed with Multisim Electronic Workbench

Procedure:
1. Connect the circuit diagram as shown in the fig. above
2. Set Vs = 1 V PP at 1 KHz.
3. Vary the frequency from dc to 1MHz in convenient steps and measure the V O at every
frequency for constant input.

Procedure:
1. Connect the circuit diagram as shown in the fig. above in Multisim Software.
2. Set Vs = 1 V PP at 1 KHz.
3. Go to Simulate → Analysis → AC Analysis
4. Set up the frequency range with start frequency 1Hz to end frequency 1MHz using AC analysis
to obtain frequency response.

5. Go to Output tab, set the expression as to plot voltage gain vs frequency and choose output
