Teacher Cris Jan M. Batingal Learning Area Mathematics
Teaching Dates and Time June 4 - 8, 2018 Quarter 1st Quarter

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of quadratic equations, inequalities and functions, and rational algebraic equations.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to investigate thoroughly mathematical relationships in various situations, formulate real-life problems involving quadratic
equations, inequalities and functions, and rational algebraic equations and solve them using a variety of strategies.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives
The learner illustrates quadratic equations. M9AL-Ia-1

III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages Module 4
2. Learner’s Materials pages pp. 4-16
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from

portal
B. Other Learning Resources Schaum’s Outline of Elementary Algebra p. 284 by Barnett Rich, Ph.D.
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Students will be asked about the rules of signed numbers. Afterwards, combining numbers with variables. This way the approach is to illustrate the
presenting the new lesson similarities of operating numbers combined with variables.
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Some quick techniques on how to simplify expressions involving/resulting quadratic equations will be introduced but not treated in details. These
techniques are (1) Removing parentheses; (2) Clear of fractions; (3) Removing radical signs; and (4) Collect like terms. The students are first
introduced with the standard form of Quadratic Equation ax 2  bx  c  0 .
C. Presenting examples/instances of the 3
new lesson (1) Removing parentheses. Thus, x(x+1)-5=0 becomes x 2  x  5  0 ; (2) Clear of fractions. Thus , x  4   0 becomes x 2  4 x  3  0 .
x
Another equations used to illustrate other (remaining) techniques are x2  3x  2 and x2  7 x  2 x  6 .
D. Discuss new concepts and practicing Students will do Activity 1, numbers 1-5 p.11 This time students master After simplifying equations
new skills #1 (The teacher will check the result on the board to show techniques of combining to standard form. Students
how answers are found). terms from the standard may be able to identify the

Quadratic equations are of

variable.
E. Discussing new concepts and If time permits, the teacher may extend the topic by answering Activity 6 nos. 6-10. By noting item 10 as the most difficult item which is to be
practicing new skills #2 discussed after the students answered all the items.
F. Developing mastery The students will answer the teacher’s activity involving the transformation of quadratic equation and then finding the constants.
G. Finding practical applications of The rules of sign numbers and the variables involved maybe crucial. So the teacher will review from time to time the techniques in simplifying
concepts expressions as mention above.
H. Making generalizations and Students are always reminded on simplifying first the quadratic equation in standard form before finding the constants.
abstractions about the lesson
I. Evaluating learning A multiple choice teacher made evaluation will be used by the teacher to determine whose students may advance or needs remedial instructions.
J. Additional activities for application Signed numbers and the fundamental operation of polynomials will help students to remember the topics previously taught to them.
