Introduction

Diagnostic tool for Yuchai electronic control diesel engine (Bosch common rail
system) has the functions as follows:
1) Read DTC( Diagnostic Trouble Code)
2) Delete DTC
3) Save DTC
4) Real-time monitor the engine operating parameters
5) Record operating parameters

1.2 Hardware Requirements

1) Computer with RS232 port

2) 256MB of RAM at least
3) OS: Windows XP

2 Installation

Insert the installation CD, double click to start the installation. Click

to continue the installation in Fig. 1.

In Fig.2, Click to select a folder where the application will be

installed. and Click to continue the installation in Fig.3. In figure 3,

Click to begin installation. In Fig.4, Click to finish the

installation.

4 Register

The application must be registered!

The register process is shown as follows:
1) Click “Start -> Program -> Diagnostic Tool for YCM (Bosch CR System) ->
Diagnostic Tool for YCM (Bosch CR System)”.
2) Copy and send the machine code to Shanghai High Energy Auto Electronic
CO., Ltd. (Email: [email protected])
3) Receive the register code which is corresponding to the machine code.

4) In Fig.6, Input the register code and click to finish the register.

NOTE: The application can register only once!

5 Application Operation

5.1 Start the Application

NOTE: Make sure that ECU is normally connected with Computer.

Click “Start -> Program -> Diagnostic Tool for YCM (Bosch CR System) ->
Diagnostic Tool for YCM (Bosch CR System)” to start the application.
The main interface is divided into three parts, “DTC Value” region, “Parameters’
Value” region and “Command Button” region.

5.2 Set Default Path

The function is used to select a default folder where different files will be saved,
e.g. DTC file, Parameters’ value file.
The default path setting process is shown as follows:
1) Click “File->Set default path” from the menu as shown in Fig.8.
2) Select a folder as the default path in the pop-up dialog box.

5.3 DTC Operation

5.3.1 DTC description

Each DTC is composed of four parts in Fig.9:

1) The first is the sequence number;
2) The second is DTC;
3) The third is fault status: “fault recovery state”, “old fault” or “fault
confirmation”;
4) The fourth is DTC description.

5.3.2 Read DTC

Click , then all the DTC will be shown in the “DTC Value”

region.

5.3.3 Delete DTC

1) Check and repair the engine according to DTC;

2) Click to delete DTC in DTC table;

3) Click again, and repeat the above process until there

is no DTC.

If there is no DTC in ECU, Fig.10 will pop up when click .

5.3.4 Save DTC

Click to save DTC to file.

5.4 Monitor

5.4.1 Select Monitor Variables

1) Click in Fig.7, Fig.11 will pop up;

2) Select monitor variables (20 variables can be selected at most each time );

3) Click to end variables selection and back to the main

interface, then the selected monitor variables will display in the

“Parameters’ Value” region. Meanwhile will change

into .

4) Click in Fig.7 to stop monitoring.

Tip : Press the Shift or Ctrl to select multiple variables.

5.4.2 Save and Load Configuration

After selecting the monitor variables shown in Fig.11, click to save

variables as a group to file.

Click to load a variables group file.

5.4.3 Save Parameters’ Value

While monitoring, click in Fig.7 to record the parameters’

value to file. And click to stop recording.

6 Cautions

1) Make sure you have the administrator authority when you run the
application!
2) Make sure that the serial port must be “COM1” when you run the
application! Please refer Appendix A for detail settings.

Appendix A: COM Port Settings

The COM port setting process is shown as follows:

Step1: Open “Device Manager”(Right Click: My Computer>Properties>
Hardware> Device Manager) that shown in Fig.12.

Step2: Double click the serial port for the application, such as “Ports(COM &
LPT)->Communication Port(COM?)”.

Step 3: Select “Port Settings” in Fig.13, and click .

Step 4: In the “Advanced Settings for COM?” window, click the

drop-down list box “COM Port Number” and select “COM1” in Fig.14,

then click to finish COM setting.
