His
kingdom was prosperous, his people were good, and he should have been happy.
Narrator2: But the king was not contented. He was envious of his young brother, Prince
Bantugan. Every time anyone praised Prince Bantugan the king looked frowned and
angry.
Narrator1: Prince Bantugan is so handsome, Prince Bantugan is so good, Prince
Bantugan is so brave. Everyone said but the king disagrees because no one praised him
and because of his jealousy.
Prince Bantugan: Brother the people are so nice to me.
King of Bumbaran: I disagree.
Prince Bantugan: Why?
King of Bumbaran: Because they just want your attention.
Prince Bantugan: No they’re not.
King of Bumbaran: Well that’s what you think.
Prince Bantugan: No you’re just jealous of me.
King of Bumbaran: (Points his sword at Prince Bantugan’s throat)Do you think you’re
better than me!
Prince Bantugan: (Scared) No
King of Bumbaran: Then shut up.
Narrator2: One day, enemies attacked the kingdom and Prince Bantugan led his men to
defend the country. While he was gone, the evil king plotted against the good prince
Evil King: I issue a proclamation that no one should speak to Price Bantugan. Whoever
dared to speak with the prince will be executed.
Narrator1: Soon, Prince Bantugan returned victorious from battle to his astonishment, no
one ever wanted to speak to him.
King of Bumbaran: Why the sad face?
Price Bantugan: Nothing
King of Bumbaran: I tould you don’t be such a fool.
Prince Bantugan: (Punched the king) Don’t ever underestimate me.
King of Bumbaran (Get’s his sword and slashes it with the Prince’s sword)
Prince Bantugan: Fine I’m leaving this stupid kingdom of yours.
King of Bumbaran: Fine I don’t care.
Narrator2: The prince left the kingdom and preferred to live in other countries and to travel
to far lands and forget about his unkind brother.
Narrator1: In his travels, he heard about the beautiful land of the Kingdom-Between-Two-
Seas. It was ruled by a good king and his sister, the Beautiful Princess Datimbang.
Narrator2: Prince Bantugan decided to go there. He travelled through many lands,
forests, and mountains and finally reached the Kingdom-Between-Two-Seas.

Narrator1: Prince Bantugan was very weary from his travels. As he stood outside the
gates he suddenly felt very weak. His legs couldn’t carry his body, and the Prince fell to
the ground and died.
Good King’s Soldier: Your majesty we found a dead body in front of the gates.
Good King: Where
Good King’s Soldier: Follow me.
Princess Datimbang: Wait, I want to see it to.
Narrator2: Even in death, Prince Bantugan was very handsome. The heart of Princess
Datimbang went out to him in love and sorrow.
Princess Datimbang: What a handsome young man. I wish I could have spoken to him
before he died. I am sure he was as good as he was handsome.
Good King: How unfortunate the he should die here. Does anyone know who this young
man was and where he came from? By his clothes and appearance, he must be a king
or a prince.
Narrator1: No one knew who the strange young man was.
Good Prince: Bring this body to the palace.
Narrator2: The king was afraid that the relatives or subjects of the dead man might wage
war upon his kingdom. Therefore he treated the body of the young man as he would a
royal person. He had in dressed in magnificent clothes and placed it in a large hall in the
palace.
Narrator1: Princess Datimbang placed flowers upon the bed on which the body lay.
She decorated it with colored jewelry. Around the bed was an abundance of fragrant
flowers in jars and vases.
Narrator2: The King declared a proclamation.
Good King: I proclaim that all my people and the people of the neighboring kingdoms
must come to look at the prince or king so that I would know who he was and where he
came from.
Narrator1: People from a far and near came to see the body, but no one knew who the
men was. The beautiful Princess Datimbang watched nearby.
Princess Datimbang: What a handsome looking guy, I wish he was still alive so that I
could marry him.
Narrator2: Princess Datimbang had fallen deeply in love with the handsome stranger.
Parrot1: (Crying)
Parrot2: Why are you sad brother?
Parrot1: I lost my master; the Prince Bantugan, he left Bumbaran never to return. I have
not found him.
Parrot2: Ah, your master is lost, indeed. He is dead, but you can see his body in the
palace where he is lying in a royal state.
Narrator2: Without another word, Prince Bantugan’s parrot flew to the palace. He saw his
master’s body and shrieked in grief.

Narrator1:
Princess Datimbang: Parrot is he your master.
Parrot1: Yes, indeed.
Princess Datimbang: From what kingdom.
Parrot1: From Bumbaran
Parrot1: (Crying) My master is dead. My master Prince Bantugan from Bumbaran, is
dead, he who was so good to his people.
Narrator2: When the Good King heard what the parrot had said he determined to put the
body on a vinta and take himself with all honors, to the Kingdom of Bumbaran.
Narrator1: Princess Datimbang went with him.
Princess Datimbang: Parrot go ahead to the Kingdom of Bumbaran and notify the king
that we’re coming.
Parrot2: Ok
Narrator2: He flew ahead to the Kingdom of Bumbaran.
Parrot2: Your majesty your brother has passed away and the people of the Kingdom-
Between-Two-Seas are coming to your kingdom.
Kingdom of Bumbaran: What!! How?
Parrot2: They’ll tell you once they have arrived.
Narrator2: The parrot told the king abouth the death of the prince.The king, his brother,
was stricken in pain. He was full of repentance. He blamed himself for the death of his
brother.
King of Bumbaran: What have I done I should’ve treated him as my brother.
Narrator2: Prince Madali, a brother of Prince Bantugan and who loved him dearly,
volunteered to go to the region of the dead and bring Bantugan’s soul back to his body.
Prince Madali: Brother I need to go to the region of the dead so that I can retrieve
Bantugan’ soul
King of Bumbaran: Ok but I’ll come with you.
Narrator2: It was very dangerous but the two were not afraid, they travelled five days and
reached a thunderous land rainy land. After five more days they reached the hottest land
that ever existed their feet were burning but they never gave up.
Five more days and they finally reached region of the dead.
Gate Keeper: Why are you here? What do you want?
Prince Madali: We have come to ask the Angel of Death when we shall die.
Gate Keeper:Go to the next door you will find the angel who guards the souls
Narrator2: So the two went for the second gate and where stopped by the guard there.
Guard: Why are you here? You have no business here, you are not dead.
Prince Madali: We have come to ask the Angel of Death when we shall die.
Guard: Come in but only for a minute, and return back to earth right away.

Narrator2: The two entered and found themselves in a beautiful garden full of fragrant
flowers and delicious fruits. They found Bantugan’s soul sitting on a chair.
Narrator2: The two tricked the Angel of Death to go outside for a minute.
Prince Madali: Hey angel we found some souls outside.
Angel of Death: Ok I’ll go.
Prince Madali: Bantugan come with us we will return your soul to your body.
Prince Bantugan: Ok
Narrator2: When Batugan went with Madali and the King they went back to earth.
When Princess Datimbang and his brother arrived at the kingdom Bantugan’s soul went
back to his body.
Prince Bantugan: (Yawn) I’m so tired.
Prince Madali: Just rest brother.
Narrator2: The people were very happy. And for so many days celebrated the return of
the prince. Prince Bantugan forgives his brother and marries Datimbang.
Prince Bantugan: Will you marry me.
Princess Datimbang: Yes
Narrator1: And they live happily ever after.
