GRP Mast

GRP composite masts are a new product for overhead power lines that have the potential to revolutionize construction. The masts are made from non-conductive glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) materials in a lightweight, intelligent design. They are 100% non-conductive and self-insulating, allowing overhead lines to be erected without isolators. The GRP masts also meet structural requirements, offer corrosion resistance for a longer lifespan than conventional masts, and provide benefits like reduced weight for transport and installation.

GRP OVERHEAD LINE MASTS

Masts made from GRP composite materials are new

to the Powerlines Group product range and have the
potential to revolutionise the construction of overhead
lines. These innovative GRP masts are made from
non-conductive composite glass fibre materials in an
intelligent lightweight construction format. The GRP
material is 100% non-conductive and self-insulating,
enabling overhead line systems to be erected com-
pletely without the integration of isolators.

This new product also complies with all the structural

engineering requirements for strength and stiffness,
and exceeds the working life of conventional masts
due to corrosion and weather resistance. The new
GRP masts are manufactured for us by our partners at
IBK Fibertec GmbH, whose specialists can contribute
40 years of experience with fibreglass. The product
itself is distributed via Powerlines Products.
An overview of the benefits of GRP masts:

– Significant work safety improvement: Since the masts are 100% non-conductive
there can be no voltage leaks from the lines.
– Little or no need for the installation of isolators on the line-bearing structures.
– Corrosion resistant with a longer operative life.
– GRP materials offer significant weight reductions for transport and assembly, and
are more effective, economical, efficient and safe.
– Environmentally friendly technology; all elements are completely recyclable.
– Reduced weight means line-bearing constructions can be lighter and less bulky
structures.
– Changed minimal clamping distances compared to conventional grounding
methods.
– Light and weather resistant due to the special resin mixture.
– Immense flexibility in terms of shape and colours.
