Link calculation
• Perform a Link simulation through the LinkCalc to evaluate the feasibility of a link

Copyright ©2016 LigoWave

Link calculation
•Perform a site survey to validate the installation conditions (LOS, obstacles on the
path, space on the tower/pole, length of FTP cable required for installation, grounding
points, etc.).
•Repeat the simulation with the information obtained from the site survey (Height at
which the antenna will be installed, coordinates, etc.)
• Based on the simulation, locate a reference point on the map as for the alignment
• During the installation phase, use the antenna alignment tool in order to fine tune:
• The recommended value of RSSI for optimal performance is between -40 to -60
dBm. The external LEDs of the Station can be useful.
• The fine tuning of the installation has to include Vertical and Horizontal
movements according to the type of mounting.
• Use the link test to verify the throughput performance.

AP’s coverage Planing
•It is recommended to calculate the AP’s coverage using the LigoWave’s LinkCalc
software in PtMP mode at https://linkcalc.ligowave.com

LigoDLB troubleshooting
Remote site
• Get the troubleshooting files form the customer in case you will ask Ligowave
support for the help.
• Gather as much as possible information about the install, like distance, antenna
gain and height - report from the LinkCalc is preferred.
• Get the remote access if possible.

Local site
• Check if the PoE led goes on while powering the unit - if it blinks, the main board
has a short.
• Check the LED lights, power and LAN led should be on - if not, this is the ethernet
problem.
• Reset the device to defaults using the reset button. If default IP does not respond,
probably Tx/Rx problem of the Ethernet.

Troubleshooting a link
• Check Tx packet retry rate. Acceptable rate is under 10 %.
• Set narrow channel to see if retry rate decreased. If not, try another channel.
• Try non-standard channel to avoid the noise from regular APs.
• Measure the speed with LinkTest to check if speed has increased after new
changes.
