Some Terminologies of OBE
1) Programme Education Objectives
(PEOs):
Broad Statements that describe the Vision/Mission of
career and professional the Dept

(PLOs):
Narrower statement that describe what PLO
students are expected to know and are
able to do by the time of graduation.
3) Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs): CLO

that describe significant and
essential learning that learners have achieved,
and can reliably demonstrate at the end of
a course or program.

Assessment
• Every question(of assignment/Quiz/Exam)
responds to a particular CLO.
• 50% marks are required to pass a particular
CLO.
• CLO is further mapped to PLO.
• If a CLO is not cleared, then the particular PLO
will also be not cleared.
• CLOs of multiple subjects may mapped to a
particular PLO.
• A PLO is considered to be cleared if the
overall aggregate of a PLO is >50%
• Incase of marks<50 in a CLO, a corrective
action is initiated by the instructor
• Corrective action- Quiz/Assignment/Project
• A degree will not be awarded to a student, if
any of the PLO is not cleared
• To clear a PLO, department may advise a
student to
– Repeat a subject
– Appear in a comprehensive test
• All of the PLOs must be cleared for the degree
to be awarded
