A HANDBOOK OF
NATIONAL EVENTS 2017-18
Aim:
To create unity, integrity, honesty, fraternity, friendship and the
true spirit of competition among the students of the regional
schools of the ASISC.
Objective:
Ø To inculcate in the young minds the spirit of healthy
competition while exhibiting their talents and potentials.
Ø To help the students develop an integral personality and
bring out the best in them so as to ensure a bright future for
them.
Means:
Providing platforms for various sports and literary competitions
conducted annually, facilitating a healthy mental, physical and
psychological exposure.

h) All the competitors will be provided with two sets of chest numbers to be worn
visibly on his/her chest and back. The size of the numbers shall not exceed 150 mm
x 25 mm.
I) The Participants should report to the Reporting Booth at the irst call. After the
third call, no participant will be allowed to participate in that event. In case a
participant is unable to report to the reporting booth for a valid reason, he/she
should obtain prior permission from the of icials through the manager.
j) The Referee and the of icials in charge of conducting the events should brief the
participants before the commencement of each event. They should clearly instruct
the participants regarding the track or lane rules, changing the track, pushing or

tripping the competitors which will eventually lead to disquali ication from a
particular event or events.
k) Some of the events require heats to select the participants for the inals. The
timings, and not the position at the heats, will decide the quali iers for the inals.
l) The track umpires are assistants to the referee, without the power of decision.
m) The participants may use spikes and starters. No participant will be
allowed to run bare – foot.

d. One player cannot play both the games, i.e. Singles and Doubles.
e. Every participant must follow the dress code, colour as per the respective Region
T-shirt with collar, shorts, Tennis Skirt for girls, non-marking tennis shoes,
personal tennis racquets etc must be taken care of.
f. All the players should be ready to play in lood lights, if needed.
g. The competition is between teams and not individual players.
j. The format of matches: One Singles and one Doubles compulsorily, and then
Singles, if required.
h. The winning team will be decided on the basis of “best of three'' games.

1. Andhra Pradesh : Purple with white stripes
2. Bihar & Jharkhand : Sky Blue with white stripes
3. Karnataka : Red with white stripes
4. Kerala : Maroon with white stripes
5. Maharashtra, MP & Goa : Orange with navy blue stripes
6. North India : Grey with white stripes
7. North West : Brown with white stripes
8. Odhisha & Chhattisgarh : Parrot Green with white stripes
9. Tamil Nadu : Navy Blue with white stripes
10. UP & UK : Yellow with maroon stripes

LITERARY EVENTS
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS:
1. All competitions will be held in two categories:-
Juniors - Students up to X (No separate groups for boys
Seniors - Students of XI & XII & girls)
2. Only the winners of each category from the respective regions will participate in the
national competition.
3. All the participants must register themselves in the previous evening, of the event.
4. Participants will not be allowed to go out of the premises on their own for visiting or
shopping etc.
5. Out-station participants must furnish their travel details to the organizer, so that
arrangements for transportation can be made on time.
6. Participants must be present for the meals on time.
7. Separate lodging facilities for boys and girls will be provided.
8. Participation Certi icates will be awarded to all participants.
9. Winners of the First, Second and Third positions will be awarded Merit Certi icates and
Medals.
10. A panel of judges will compile all the results. The decision of the judges will be inal and
binding.
DEBATE
Speci ic Rules:
1. Participants should avoid reading from a previously prepared script, any paper or aid;
however short notes are permitted.
2. The format of the debate will be of “Frank Anthony Memorial Debate” of the Council.
3. Each region can present only two participants each in each category - one to speak 'for
the motion' and the other, 'against' the motion.
4. The order of speech will be decided on the spot by draw of lots. However, the speakers
who initiate both the motions will get two extra minutes each to wind up the debate
after all the speakers have inished their turn.
5. Each speaker will get four minutes to speak. At the end of the third minute, a warning
bell will be rung. The inal bell will be sounded at the end of the fourth minute. The
speaker, exceeding the time limit, will be penalized.
6. All participants must be in formal wear without any identi ication marks.
7. The speakers will address the chair only. Un-parliamentary language, personal
comments or observations on any religion, caste, community, political party or
individual are not allowed; the matter should be limited to the topic only. Such
violations may lead to disquali ication.
8. Marks awarded by individual judges will be added up for each speaker; and then for
each team.

9. A lively rebuttal/refutation for approximately two minutes will follow each speech
with interjections from the participants.
10. Speakers will be adjudged for subject matter, diction, delivery, pronunciation,
language, presentation and rebuttal.
DECLAMATION
Speci ic Rules:
1. Each region can present one participant each per category.
2. Time allotted is four minutes. Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time.
3. Choice of passage is left to the participants but no passage from ictions or dramas is
permitted.
4. Participants should commit the passage to memory. They will not be permitted to read
out from a previously prepared script, any paper or aid.
5. Marks awarded by individual judges will be added up for each speaker.
6. The speaker will be adjudged on the basis of Diction, pronunciation, gestures,
emotions, intonation and overall presentation.
7. Participants should be in formal wear without any identi ication marks.
CREATIVE WRITING
Speci ic Rules:
1. Each region can present one participant each per category.
2. Only the writing paper will be provided by the host.
3. Essays/stories/poems etc should be written neatly on one side of the paper, leaving
suf icient margin.
4. The creative writing should not exceed more than 500 words.
5. The participants will be given a choice of topics on the spot.
6. The initial half hour will be for preparation; participants are not to write during this
planning session.
7. The participants will be given an hour and a half to write down the essay/story/ poem
after the planning session.
8. The work will be adjudged on the basis of content, language, style and creativity.
9. Marks awarded by individual judges will be added up for each participant.

Speci ic Rules:
1. Each region can present one participant each in each category
2. Topic will be given on the spot.
3. Ivory sheets of 28”x22” size will be provided by the host.
4. Acrylic or poster colours to be used.
5. The time allotted will be one day: i.e. 09:00am – 03:00pm.
6. Participant is expected to present a creative and attractive composition to bring out the
theme of the topic.
7. Participant is required to bring one's own colours, tools and other accessories.
8. Marks will be awarded for composition, creativity, colour scheme, and
interpretation of the theme.
9. Paintings will be exhibited during the Annual Conference of the Heads of Schools of the
ASISC and thereafter put on sale.
QUIZ
Speci ic Rules:
1. A team of two participants each in each category, from each region can participate.
2. The time allotted is one day.
3. There will not be any written elimination.
4. All the teams will have oral contest, which may include elimination.
Oral contest depends upon the number of teams.
5. The Quiz will comprise of various rounds on various topics.
