Statement of Purpose

I xxxxxxxx, wish to accomplish my goals, career by applying to your University for the Master of Science.
Years from now, I envisage myself in the research work in this stream.

Diligence, determination and the desire to excel at whatever I do resulted in good grades throughout my
schooling and also in my bachelor’s. As a child, I was very fascinated by the working of complex
mechanisms and equipment’s this etched an impressionable image on my mind. I was awed by their
simple fundamentals which form the governing basis for a lot of machinery. In order to understand
these concepts, I took part in science fairs and practical workshops. This exposure taught me the
importance of simple and practical design. To understand the principles and practical aspects of
designing a product I decided to pursue my career in engineering. I am pursuing my engineering degree
in Mechanical engineering from xxxxxxxxxxxxx, affiliated to the xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

In my undergraduate study, I have been exposed to diversing topics ranging from Applied
Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, computer aided manufacturing and design, Kinematics and
Dynamics of Machinery, Machine design, Industrial Management etc.., revealed to me limitless horizons
in the field of Mechanical Engineering. These courses have helped me build a strong foundation in
Mechanical Engineering and laid the necessary groundwork for pursuing graduate studies.

The interest on the Design and Analysis influenced me to take up my major project on "Design and
Analysis of Propeller Blades" which aims at incorporating the features of standard Design models and to
replace the conventional metallic propeller with the composite propeller in which the Reinforced Plastic
material because of its advantages., was an opportunity to gain knowledge of design applications and
the materials that can be used to replace the conventional materials. My immediate career objective is a
master's degree followed by a research oriented career in an industry or academic.

Germany is a symbol of technical excellence. As technical skills and excellence cannot be achieved
without excellent education, it is therefore a promising destination for higher education. The fact that
many of Germany’s institutions of higher education charge little or no tuition fee by international
comparison apprised me of the importance Germany holds in higher education. I also value the fact that
many breakthroughs industrial practices have been originally envisaged by German establishments.

Although I have always been academically inclined, I have given equal importance to active participation
in my schooling and also in my college's technical and cultural festivals. Besides this, at every given
opportunity, I have volunteered for many events conducted by my college. These experiences have
helped me to stay grounded and not to take life for granted. I am largely self-regulated and am capable
of independent work, given an opportunity.

In pursuit of an ambitious and successful future, I am determined to pursue my Masters in Master of


Science (Computational Mechanics) at xxxxxxxxxxx. At this stage of my education, a truly global program
would be the most advantage. The program at your University is of special interest to me, as I am
convinced that study at your University will be an extension to my academic pursuits and also a major
step towards achieving my goals and objectives. I perceive that graduate study nurtures the seeds of
learning sown during the course of undergraduate study. After having gone through the details of the
research facilities available at your university, I feel that they are very much catering to the fields of
interest and it is the right place to embark upon my academic career.

Thanking you for giving me an opportunity to express myself and want to end this letter on the note
which inspires me.
