Moisture Management Finish by CHT PDF

Moisture management refers to moisture control and regulation in fabrics. It aims to quickly transport moisture such as perspiration outward through the fabric, allow for rapid evaporation, and provide a comfortable dry feeling to the skin. Moisture management agents for cotton are typically hydrophilic silicone softeners that transport moisture while maintaining a soft fabric handle. These effects can be measured using tests that analyze factors like dispersion time, evaporation rate, and durability over multiple washes.

MOISTURE MANAGEMENT

§ Perspiration accompanies man 365 days a year & 24 hours a day & is a
natural reaction for transporting excess heat, which is caused by
physical activity or high ambient temperature or both.

§ By supporting the thermal regulation of the human body, fabric may

significantly contribute to the physiological comfort.

§ The term moisture management stands for moisture control and/or

moisture regulation, due to the recently increasing demand of functional
finishes this term is frequently used in textile marketing.
§ Moisture Management includes the following functions:
•Fast moisture transport outward • Rapid evaporation
• Comfortable and dry skin feeling •Breathability
§ Generally Moisture Management Agents for cotton are based on
hydrophylic silicone softeners which give a soft and supple handle also.

§ The effects of hydrophilic finishing agents can be measured by several

test methods.
•Drop test•Capillary rise test•Evaporation test•Water flow test
