b) Calculate the Variance, and Standard Deviation for both data sets
c) Using the calculated value, make some comparison between 2 data sets

Question 2:

The following table represents a sorted standard data measuring the performance of a
manufacturing process.

a) Calculate 25th percentile, 50 percentile, 75 percentile, 60 percentile.


b) Calculate percentile regarding to value 18 and percentile regarding to value 24.

c) The company wants to use this data to create a standard box plot to control the
quality of the process. Help the company construct the box plot using the given data.

d) On two given days, the data generated by the usual manufacturing processes are also
given as follow:

Use the constructed box plot to check the control status of these two data set, provide
analysis, conclusion and comparison between two data set X1 and X2

Question 3: A sample of the labor costs per hour to assemble a certain product has a mean of $2.60
and a standard deviation of $0.15. Using Chebyshev’s theorem, find the range in which at least
88.89% of the data will lie.

Question 4: Using the Chebyshev’s theorem, solve these problems for a distribution with a mean of
50 and a standard deviation of 5. At least what percentage of the values will fall between 40 and 60?

Question 5: The average U.S. yearly per capita consumption of citrus fruit is 26.8 pounds. Suppose
that the distribution of fruits amounts consumed is bell-shaped with a standard deviation equal to 4.2
pounds. What percentage of Americans would you expect to consume in the range of 18.4 pounds to
35.2 pounds of citrus fruit per year?
