Traverse Adjustment - WOLFPack

1. The document provides steps to use WolfPack software to compute adjustments for a 5 point traverse survey with given distances, azimuths, and measured angles. 2. It includes downloading the WolfPack software, plotting the initial traverse with distances in feet, computing preliminary azimuths, and developing an input file for the software with course data. 3. The output provides angle and coordinate adjustments, misclosure values, and adjusted observations with computed distances, azimuths, and angles for the balanced traverse.

Traverse Adjustment

Steps
Download software WolfPack from here

http://www.personal.psu.edu/cdg3/free.htm

1. Plot the traverse, distance in the figure are given in feet

2. Compute preliminary azimuths for the traverse courses

Compute preliminary azimuths for the traverse courses of Figure 10.1, based on a fixed
azimuth of 234o17’18’’ for line AW, a measured angle to the right of 151_52_24_ for WAE,
and the angle adjustment by method 1 of Table 10.1.
3. Develop the input file for WolfPack software and use commands as follows

Figure 10.1, Example 10.4 //title line

5 1 //number of courses; 1 = angles to the right; -1 = clockwise direction

126 55 17 //azimuth of first course in traverse; degrees minutes seconds

647.25 100 45 37 //first distance and angle at control station

203.03 231 23 43 //distance and angle for second course and station, respectively

720.35 17 12 59 //and so on

610.24 89 03 28

285.13 101 34 24

10000.00 5000.00 //coordinates of first control station
