I-Course Description:
This is a basic course on child and adolescent development focusing on the current research
and theory on the biological, linguistic, cognitive, social, and emotional dimensions of development,
and the factors that affect the progress of development.
The coverage of the course is intended to provide the future with a broad yet fairly detailed
understanding of the development processes that students undergo and do, that such an
understanding may be used to guide them in dealing with students.

II- Course Objectives:


1. Compare and contrast, organize and synthesize the different researches and theories
related to the four broad dimensions of Child and Adolescent Development;
2. Observe and reflect on the applicability of the theories to children and adolescents in their
local context;
3. Articulate their own views and ideas on how children and adolescent grow;
4. Appreciate, value, and respect the difficult and complex processes that students of
different ages go through;
5. Express some insights regarding how teaching and learning process should take into
consideration the various forms of knowledge regarding child and adolescent
development; and
6. Research, interview, organize, and submit an audio-visual (through movie maker)
presentation regarding their growth and development with photos from prenatal to their
present stage and development.

Curriculum Development is a comprehensive study of the overview of the
foundations, principles and issues of curriculum: foundations are the areas of study outside
curriculum that affect the field, principles refer to the means and methods used in reflecting
about the totality of curriculum and for developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating
curriculum issues address the theories and trends that influence the field.
