Thesis

The document describes the design of a groundnut sheller and blanching machine. It includes specifications for the hopper, shelling drum, and components like the screen mesh, rotating shaft, fan, and conveyor. The shelling drum uses a shearing action between the screen mesh and three-legged rotating shaft to shell around 965 pods per batch. Shelled peanuts are then conveyed to the blanching machine which uses dual vibrating motors to separate the hull from the peanuts through centrifugal force and vibration before collection.

the average weight for 1000 pods which is 2.2g per pod is 2.2kg
at 1100g max weight capacity of shelling drum per batch from rrl is 500 pods (1
batch = 3mins) so for 1hr = 22kg mass peanuts / hour
the max total weight of pods inside the shelling drum is 2122g base on our design
so for 2.2g per pod = 965 pods per batch (1 batch = 3mins) so for 1hr. 42.5kg
peanuts / hour

Groundnut SHELLER and blanching machie is operated by the shearing, blowering,

separating and sieving action. First the groundnut are to be
fed to the machine through the hopper. Then groundnuts come in shelling drum where
the groundnut will be crushed by
contact with the two members, one is screen mesh and another is
3 leg rotating shaft with cutting plane. Screen mesh is a stationary member while
the 3 leg rotating shaft with cutting plane is the
rotating member. When the groundnut comes in contact with these
two members the shearing action will takes place. Due to
shearing action (crushing) the groundnuts gets shelled and divided into
two parts. the peanut and outer shell of the groundnuts. There
clearance is provided between the screen mesh and 3 leg rotating shaft. The
clearance
provided is depends upon the size of the groundnuts(5mm average size) which is to
be
deshelled. After shelleing the groundnut peanut and shells of the
groundnut gets dropped from the clearance of the screen mesh, in downward
direction then a centrifugal force is applied by a fan on the peanut and
shell of the groundnut. Due to more weight, the peanuts gets moved
downward and collected in the separator. But due to lighter weight the
shell of the groundnuts are thrown outside the machine and which are
collected from the hull chamber at the backside of the machine.
the peanut separated will be convayed by the conveyor into blanching machine.
the blanching machine adopts dual vibrating motor due to the sychronize and
reverse(opposite)
movement of the vibrating motor
it generates a centrifugal force which is offset and parallel(perpendicular) to the
motor axis.
due to the vibration movement of the peanuts the hull will be seperated to the
peanuts
and the hull of the peanuts will be vacuumed by the dust collector
due to its weight difference only the hull will be collected.
hence the peanut blanching machine is a straight line.
There is a inclination in the vibrating screen sieve surface of two motors,
under the resulting force of exciting force and the force of gravity,
wth the help of 4 spring on each corner that would be the shock absorber of the
vibration
the peanut kernel material was thrown up on the screen and leaped forward for
straight line motion
so as to achieve the purpose of blanching the kernel peanut.

pros cons
pros
cons
* *prone to dentures
*much cheaper maintenance by changing the cutting plate
*
*less power needed * maintenance as a whole together with the shaft
*the cuttig plate is made out of rubber to protect the
peanuts from the scratch to maintain its quality *much higher power
required for the torque of the shaft
* some peanuts stuck with shelling spike
*the cutting blade is design with v holes to reduce the clogs in the
crushing process
*too much space is occupuied on the shelling drum because of the
design of the spiked shaft
