APPEALS

2) Rural areas are hereby seeking, donations, aid and grants from well wishers,
organizations and various charities in the world in order to establish a rehabilitation
centre for the girl child, as SAHARA And NGO. Write an appeal to be published in a
national daily.
3) An NGO, actively involved in the education of the blind, publishes an appeal in a

DEBATE

through comparison and contrast with other viewpoints.
c. Bring credibility to views by providing adequate supporting data.
d. Argue your point of view giving 3-4 points to support your argument.
e. Infuse humour through anecdotes. Keep the audience in mind, use rhetorical
questions.
f. Conclude with your strongest point.
g. Use persuasive and powerful language.
h. Include a vote of thanks to the audience in the end.

4) You recently came across beggars both adults and little children begging at red lights.

IMPORTANT NOTE
1. Read the newspaper for current topics today will come as questions in the form of
either a letter or an article in the exams.
2. Write your answers in simple English. Don’t use difficult words especially if you are
not sure of their usage or spelling.
3. In letters or articles, ensure that you write short sentences. Avoid long sentences as
they lead to grammatical errors.
