Wheat

And
Chaff
(Luke 17:34-37)
*

“I tell you, on that night two people will be in one

bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two
women will be grinding grain together; one will be
taken and the other left.” [Two men will be in the
field; one will be taken and the other left.] “Where,
Lord?” they asked. He replied, “Where there is a
dead body, there the vultures will gather.”
Before we start sermon, let me confess that, it was
impossible with my old identity (my life, my rule and
antichristian acts) to give any sermon based on the Bible.
But with new identity which I received in Christ Jesus and
with the inspirations of the Holy Spirit, now I can do it for
sure. Like you the readers, I the writer myself is also being
blessed by these sermons, and I don’t doubt on it either.
Today’s sermon shall bless you in the name of the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit.
(Here, you may proceed to pray for two minutes before
reading this sermon).
“The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of
sober mind so that you may pray.” 1 Peter 4:7.
We finished studies over the daylight. Sins are going to rise
so much even in the daylight that you may not want to ask
about that day’s night!
But “on that night” means, the night when the coming of
the Son of Man will happen…
Jesus told in one of his parables about how he will
thoroughly clean and separate wheat from chaff and will
gather his wheat into the barn. So it is true that there will
be two classes like the chosen ones and not chosen ones.
Remember that, these wheat always remain wheat and
never get turned into chaff and the same way, these chaff
always remain chaff and never get turned into wheat! It will
be the day of collecting his wheat into his barn. It will be
that unique moment for which many believers have put
their hopes on.
We will separate first ten verses of Luke chapter 17 into
three different sections to understand these different
situations given in our verses of study.
1. Bed: (Luke 17:1-4)
Here, two people means one of them is wheat and other is
chaff. It is not said like, “the half of the population will be
vanished” but, it is said as an example which can be like,
“one of them will be like this, and other will be like this.” It
is also possible that in end times, most of believers may be
proved chaff (and in current, it seems so much of possibility
of it to happen) and very few may be proved wheat who
are faithful to the word of the Lord.
In bible, bed is said to be a very important field concerning
for sexual purity.
Here, it is important that two points shall be concerned:
The first point is, not to cause stumble.
When stumbling is put among the believers then the most
common answer in them would be from Paul’s words about
not to stumble anyone by taking part in idolatry, but the
stumbling block like sins which are done in bed can be
proved the same severe in it. What the youth will learn from
a politician who watches sexual images openly under
running parliament from his mobile? Just like this, you who
are the light of this world can never teach lessons of the
darkness. And wheat of Jesus can never become stumble
for other wheat and such wheat will never get stumbled like
chaff. It will be the chaff which will surely get stumbled!
The world shall see destructions of such false disciples, false
teachers and false prophets. They shall never get risen
again, because the stone of sinfulness was tied around their
neck and it threw them into the sea of lusts forever. They
will be thrown into the hell.
“God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5.
Here, woe is not said to the stumbling situation but it is said
to the stumbling one, those through whom they come.
So, no more excuses please!
Second thing is forgiveness to those who repent.
Not those who rudely say “sorry” and then walk away from
you. But forgive those who truly repent and keep forgiving
them until the work of the Lord shall come to be completed
in them and their hearts shall come to be converted fully.
The more nearly the relation, the more it is hard to forgive!
Many will be proved chaff by not forgiving others.
Therefore, Jesus gave a prayer to us, “And forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors.”
We have polluted whatever God the Father had created but
still, He forgives us for that! He also puts His plan of our
forgiveness and that is called the Gospel!
Therefore, God the Father who Himself is the light, and in
whom no darkness is found, can never be a stumble for
anyone, but He is so gracious in His love to us that He gives
forgiveness of our sins through His Son Jesus Christ!
Alright…
Now, before you become too much rigid about not to
become stumble to anyone so much so that you start
concerning about not to have a single crease on your shirt,
let me make it clear…
Is that sin of becoming greater than others has entered in
you? Pray about it, because the more you are big among
others, the more you put yourself in danger of becoming
stumble to them!
Then what to do? Shouldn’t we become greater?
Prayer can be like this, “O Lord, you shall become greater
and I shall become lesser.”
“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom
I am the worst.” 1 Timothy 1:15.
2. grinding grain together (Luke 17:5-6):

In this picture, one woman was adding grain under grinding

stone and the other was moving the upper stone with
handle joined with it. The stone which grinds the grain must
be enough in weight so under which the grain can be pissed
off and then we can get flour of our preference.
The Church whose foundation is on the stone of Jesus can
make impossible things possible. It is true but the main
function of it will be to send demons into the pit of hell!
The mustard seed went into land, was buried but then it
left many other seeds behind him!
How those mustard seeds were?
They could give command and victory over the mulberry
trees!
They could give pain to demons!
“Anything is possible, where Jesus is.”
But chaff will proved to be co-workers of Satan! Satan will
certainly do wonders and signs through these chaff but he
will also make deal with them to protect his angels and his
kingdom anyhow.
Don’t leave any of them!
Don’t let any sin to grow among you! Caste them all out
into the depth of sea picking them from their roots. Then
you shall be proved wheat of Jesus.
We read about two sisters, Martha and Mary in Luke 10:38-
42. There Mary was example of a “woman with wisdom” so
much so that she was proved to be like those ten virgins
with lamps. She left all the worries of the world and just
listened the word of God with utter most care, understood
them and then followed them. She had been prepared
spiritually. She was proved to be the wheat of Jesus!
You will eat what you reap. You will taste what you grind.
Jesus had done his job. He crushed, smashed, turned and
then built his wheat, his disciples and made them good flour
so much so that anyone who ate them could never get
hungry again. Those who study the words of Jesus with
hard work, they shall eat their fruits!
Chaff will say, “Should Jesus touch me? No, I will make my
own life or my own ministry with my own.”
Whomever Jesus has touched and has formulated in his
wheel, just wow!!!
Those who have weighed faith in Jesus, just wow!!!
Those biggest mulberry trees are nothing before them!

3. field (Luke 17:7-10):

Just as we have seen earlier, field was symbol of ministry,
here talk of a servant. He is given a field for plowing or he
is looking after the sheep. There will be two types, the
worthy servants, the wheat of Jesus and the unworthy
servants, the chaff destined to hell.
Many people want to have gifts of the Holy Spirit, but they
do not want to serve the truth. Nowadays, how many
servants would have buckled the belt of truth around their
waist? (Ephesians 6:14). Honesty is what the Holy Spirit
wants from us!
“Not by might, not by power, but by your spirit.”
The Holy Spirit will continue compelling his servants to
serve through the love of Christ Jesus in them until the
gospel of truth shall reach to the whole world. And only
then, he will be lifted up from the earth.
What is the function of the Holy Spirit in field of the gospel?
In simple and utter words, he gives glory to Jesus!
Therefore, those who don’t give glory to Jesus but eat glory
in themselves are those who actually have no Holy Spirit in
them! Romans 8:9.
John the Baptist served the truth and that is why, he told
all people clearly that he wasn’t the Christ himself, John
1:20. Disciples of Jesus were eating and drinking, while
disciples of Pharisees were often fasting and praying. Jesus
was questioned over this. Then he answered it in Luke
5:34-35 that, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom
fast while he is with them? But the time will come when the
bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will
fast.” The bridegroom meant Jesus. Friends of him meant
disciples of Jesus and fasting meant sorrow in repentance.
Fasts and prayers of Pharisees weren’t having truth, while
after Jesus became alive and ascended into the heaven,
that truth was seen in fasts and prayers of his disciples.
After receiving the Holy Spirit at the Day of Pentecost, Peter
went to the temple and told that beggar who was lame from
birth, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” And
he jumped to his feet and began to walk! Acts 3:1-8.
They received power of the Holy Spirit through which they
had started doing ministry which wasn’t under their
obligation. Jesus had already cautioned them about
hypocrisy in fasts and prayers of those Pharisees but then
through the Holy Spirit they could truly understand what
the real ministry and obligation as a worthy servant of God
was!
Chaff will be those who are conservative, followed by
certain useless laws and feeding their church the same
uttered words and sermons all the years without growing
them. Their ministries have no truth and honesty. They are
lead not with the Holy Spirit but through mental powers and
worldly philosophies. They don’t want the glory of Jesus to
be done through the Holy Spirit.

So now we have finished wheat and chaff part. Do study all

these verses and recognize which type of preparation you
need to follow. You may need to pray (and certainly it is the
best way to prepare). “O Lord Jesus, formulate me like a
potter who formulate a beautiful vessel, please give me a
shape.”
It is clearly seen from the last verse of Luke 17 that before
all these can happen, it is possible that a great drought will
come. It can be a drought of the word of God, a drought of
faith and then we will have questions like these,
Where are those true teachers of the word of God gone?
Where are truth and honesty gone?
Where is true faith gone?
And then you may just keep saying, “Lord, I was showing
you my faith with hard pinch playing on that day! But then
why you proved me a chaff?”
Then Jesus will tell you, “I had made it clear to you from
Matthew 7:21 that, Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord,
Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one
who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
And last,
It isn’t important when it will happen.
It is important what will happen to us then after!
These are the days of just removing any misconception and
getting true understanding from the bible.
Still, first of all, I watch myself! 1 Corinthians 9:27.

“समय बहुत ही कम है , यीशु आनेवाला है ,

आखरी नरससिंगा फुिंका जानेवाला है ,
तेरा मेरा सबका यीशु आनेवाला है ,
तु कहा होंगा? तु कहा होंगा?”

“Time is too short, Jesus is coming,

The last trumpet is going to be blown,
Yours mine everyone’s Jesus is coming.
Where you will be? Where you will be?”
