Measurement of The Surface and Volume of A Cylinder
Measurement of The Surface and Volume of A Cylinder
Height
Radius
The radius r of a cylinder is the radius of a base. If you are given the
diameter instead, remember to halve it.
Axis
A line joining the center of each base.
So now, how can we solve the Volume and the Surface Area of a Cylinder?
By following these two formulae below, we can now solve the Volume and
Surface Are of a Cylinder itself.
Formulas:
Volume = 𝜋𝑟 2 ℎ
Surface Area = 2𝜋𝑟 2 + 2𝜋𝑟ℎ

REACTION PAPER
The video tackles about the measurement of the surface and the volume of
a cylinder. It talks about the formula that can be use to solve those problems.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the formula for getting the volume and
surface area of a cylinder itself was so easy to memorize. But see to it that you
should understand the signs that is related to the formula. For example, the letter
r, you would say that r could be rhombus or whatsoever but the real meaning of it
is r means the radius of a certain shape. On this video the formula that was used
to get the volume of a cylinder is different from the formula that is given in the
website that I’ve been found. For me, it is easier to understand the formula given
from different website but it is also important to consider different alternatives
on how we can solve different problems just like in real life situation.
So, the radius and surface area that he had been used was 4cm and 8cm.
Based on the video, volume is equal to 𝜋𝑟 2 ℎ and it is written as
V = 𝜋(4𝑐𝑚)2 (8𝑐𝑚) by solving this problem the answer or the volume would be
𝟏𝟐𝟖𝝅𝒄𝒎𝟑 . For solving the surface area, he first used to solve the area of the
circle by using the formula itself, A = 𝜋𝑟 2 so it means A = 𝜋(4𝑐𝑚2 ) and it will be
A = 𝟏𝟔𝝅𝒄𝒎𝟐 . Then after that, he solved the circumference of a circle using this
formula, C = 2𝜋𝑟 or C =2𝜋(4𝑐𝑚) and the answer is C = 𝟖𝝅𝒄𝒎. Before we finally
complete the formula for getting the surface area of a cylinder this video adds
more twist. He used to get the area of the cylinder without the surface of the
cylinder itself. So, A = rC (radius time the circumference of the circle) or A = 8𝑐𝑚 ∗
8𝜋𝑐𝑚 and the answer is A = 𝟔𝟒𝝅𝒄𝒎𝟐 . Finally, we can now solve the surface area
of the cylinder by completing those task and use this formula, Surface Area = 2
times the area of the circle + the area of the cylinder without the surface of it. It
means SA = 2 ∗ 16𝜋𝑐𝑚2 + 64𝜋𝑐𝑚2 . To simplify, SA = 32𝜋𝑐𝑚2 + 64𝜋𝑐𝑚2 so now
we probably get the answer as SA = 𝟗𝟔𝝅𝒄𝒎𝟐 .
I have learned about the whole definition of the cylinder and I hope that
this could also help you to understand not only cylinder but also the other solid
geometry figures. I am very sure that this video can also helps you to figure out
what a cylinder is all about.
