This document describes 5 websites that can be used to increase student engagement: 1) Vizia allows teachers to create quizzes, polls, discussions and collect feedback to reflect on courses. 2) Easelly allows teachers to make presentations and documents more interactive by turning them visual. 3) BoomWriter engages students by allowing them to explore other cultures and ideas virtually to inspire writing. 4) Glogster also engages students by allowing them to explore cultures and ideas to inspire writing. 5) Kidblog is designed for elementary and middle school students to participate in discussions, publish blog posts, and participate in peer learning in a safe environment with teacher control.

Utelizing vizia would allow engagement in a variety of different ways. As the

teacher you can create quizzes and polls, use videos, have discussion questions

and even collect feedback. This website will allow the teacher to increase student

engagement and even allow the teacher to reflect on the course and coursework

by collecting data and feedback from the via the students.

2.Easelly

This site is best used when needing to show something visually such as lesson plans, a

power point or even a word document. This website allows you to take those mundane

things and turn them into something more interactive and engaging for learners. This is a

site the students and teachers can utilize to share documents presentations etc in a new and

exciting way. Teachers can use this site to help reinforce learning in a visual and creative

way and students can use this site to create presentations and projects. This site is free and

user friendly; even for students in grades 6 and up!

By integrating BoomWriter into a classroom the teacher can engage students into the

curriculum by allowing them to experience other culture and ideas through the tools this

site offers. This helps to increase student engagement and helps them be inspired to write
about something they may not be able to experience in real life but allows them to virtually

explore. This helps writing come to life and adds excitement to writing assignments.

Kidblog was designed for the younger learners, those in elementary and middle school.

Kidblog follows the structure of an online college course where students have access to

tools to help them participate in discussions within their classroom community, publish

posts similar to that of an online blog and participate in learning via one another’s blog

posts. Teachers maintain control over the student blogs. This is is a safe and effective

way to allow students not only access to learning from the teacher, but also allows peer

to peer learning by allowing students access to one another’s individual and unique

blogs, classroom posts and discussion prompts.

This is a tool teachers can incorporate into their instruction on

the human brain. It explains the functions of the human brain,

breaks down and defines each of the parts of the brain, and

helps student gain the knowledge needed to understand the

complexity of the brain. Teachers and students can access this

tool.
