PR1012365 - Juniper Networks PR Search

This document describes an issue with interface hold-time down behavior on certain MX Series router cards in Junos OS. It does not support sub-second hold-time down configurations. A hidden configuration statement is introduced to ignore tuning state and allow sub-second hold-down times. However, this does not work for two specific cards, so hold-times over 3 seconds are recommended for those. The problem is marked as a major issue and remains open.

Title Improve interface hold-time down behavior on MPC3E, MPC4E, MPC5E, MPC6E cards

Release Note On MX Series routers with MPC3E, MPC4E, MPC5E, and MPC6E, Junos OS does not
support short (sub-second) interface hold-time down configuration. A hidden
configuration statement is introduced to ignore DFE tuning state during the
hold-down timer period. This configuration statement allows sub-second hold-
down timer on MPC3E, MPC4E, MPC5E, and MPC6E: set interfaces <intf name> hold- Your response will be used to improve
time up <U ms> down <D ms> alternative our document content.
Submit
The configuration statement does not work on or support 'MPC5E 3D Q 2CGE+4XGE'
and 'MIC6 2X100GE CFP2 OTN', and therefore we recommend configuring hold-time
down of more than 3 seconds for these two cards.
