Roland V-Drums Catalog
Roland V-Drums Catalog
Not satisfied with these innovations, Roland went on to develop the revolutionary V-Drums®, which debuted in 1997. Using
Composite Object Sound Modeling, or COSM®, the V-Drums gave percussionists the ability to precisely tune and shape
individual drum size and depth, head type and tuning, muffling, and even snare strainer adjustment. And thanks to its mesh-
head V-PadsTM and positional sensing technology, playing the V-Drums was amazingly natural.
While the dynamic V-Pads could convincingly simulate the feel of an acoustic
snare and toms, there was still one component left untouched until recently:
the cymbal. This was the “missing link” that, until now, seemed impossible to
duplicate. But Roland engineers persevered, spending years testing designs
until they felt they had created a cymbal worthy of the V-Drums logo. The
result is the new V-CymbalTM, featured in the new flagship V-Drums set and
compatible with the full range of electronic drum systems—proving once again
that Roland is the electronic percussion company.
With The V-Drums I have a tool that
not only accommodates me on the
physical expression level, It also allows
me to open up my imagination on a
sound creation level as well.

The Secret’s in the Pads.
V-Pads
Developed in partnership with REMO Inc. USA, Roland V-Pads offer
the most expressive and dynamic electronic percussion triggering on
the market. In fact, these near-silent pads are so sensitive you can
even play them with brushes! A proprietary drum head design gives
these patented drum pads extremely natural rebound and response,
allowing percussionists to tune and play them just like an acoustic set.
The 12-inch PD-120 employs a dual-trigger system, making it perfect
for snare drum, while the 10-inch PD-100 is ideal for toms.
The CY-14C V-Cymbal Crash is a 14-inch crash cymbal featuring the The CY-15R V-Cymbal Ride is a 15-inch cymbal which offers

V-Kick
The KD-120 V-Kick is a sturdy, super-accurate kick drum triggering pad based on the
V-Drums’ highly acclaimed mesh drum head design. It can be used with any standard
(vertical beater) bass drum pedal—including double bass pedals—and has been
engineered to feel like a full-sized bass drum. Thanks to its revolutionary design, the
KD-120 also offers just the right amount of rebound, as well dramatically reduced
tremble and superior, noise-free performance.

Incredible Playability
REAR VIEW
Once sounds have been selected and shaped using V-Editing (see below),
they can be played with maximum expression and nuance, thanks to the
TD-10’s lightning-fast, super-accurate triggering with innovative Positional
Sensing technology—giving you different timbres of sound depending upon
the location of the drum hit. This feature alone translates into a supremely
realistic playing experience beyond other electronic percussion systems.

The SPD-20 Total Percussion Pad picks up where the popular SPD-11 left off, incor-
porating a massive all-new sound set featuring strikingly realistic acoustic drum
sounds, ethnic and world instruments, classic electronic drum sounds, unique
sound effects and more. These sounds are complemented by time-tested features
and an ultra-reliable design, answering the needs of several different types of musi-
cians: the acoustic drummer or percussionist who’s looking to add electronic
sounds to his performance but doesn’t want to use a full electronic kit; the MIDI
musician who wants to compose more natural-sounding rhythm tracks by playing
like a drummer in realtime; and the drummer who simply wants to practice his
chops and develop rhythms at low volume using the SPD-20’s headphone output.
