Posture: Sits up straight and at an appropriate distance from piano,
with arms freely moving at shoulders
Applies technique learned in lesson at home to create healthy
technique habits
Uses arm weight to depress key to create a rich, full tone
Uses firm fingers
Plays with a stable wrist, and with the corner of the thumb on the tip
Performs notes with different articulations as appropriate
Follows marked fingerings to achieve best results

Follows dynamic changes written in notation
Performs minor variations in dynamics to create expression
Melody is clearly voiced over all other notes

Imitates brief melodic and rhythmic fragments of a piece after
listening to and watching the teacher play the fragment
Answers questions about patterns (frequency of a pattern, contour,
etc)
