Throughout a persons life, we are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all

different types. I have faced many obstacles to overcome in my life's path to get where I am
today. Why not at least make use the obstacles as your strength? Thinking of those obstacles as
challenges is a giant step in the direction of making hardship or difficulty has meaning. When
life gave us lemons, why don’t we make made lemonades?
I was a girl in a nutshell who lived in the countryside. I lived with my mother and with my eldest
sister. My mom is the best mom that I always depend on in everything I do, feels like I can’t live
without her. It was pretty normal to depend on our mom but the moment that I had to move to
the city to study was a very big step for me. My father works and lives in the city along with my
brothers and sisters so basically I had to leave my eldest sis and my mom. That was the biggest
decision I had to make. That decision was one of my biggest challenge I had to go through in my
life. However, I made a special journey. Actually, it was my new life: I moved to the city. The
hardest thing was being away from home and my mom. I missed being comfortable, safe, secure
and most importantly with myself. I felt like whether I succeed or fail, it was all up to me. My
freshman year in high school was the first step of my journey and the start of a new stage in my
life. I vividly remember my first day at school I was very nervous and anxious that time I started
thinking like will I able to make new friends? will I able adjust? thoughts were running through my
mind with no definitive. It may be tough for me because I find it hard to express myself. I don’t
know where to find confidence to speak so I am afraid that I might get low grades and so it really
happened. First grading on my 7th grade the honor list was announce. It was my firstime not
hearing my name on the top 10 and I felt very sad and disappointed at myself. I may not live up to
my parents expectations especially my mom who’s far away from me. I want to pay their
hardships and effort just to send me to a prestigious school and for giving me good life. I want at
least make them proud and so definite change was needed. As months passes by I started to have
a new friends they were the one’s who let me bloom and help me to go out of the nutshell. I
learned that living inside the nutshell won’t make any good and that’s why I must break that shell
and push very hard so it will open. I become more confident and independent. No longer do I
feel the need to rely on others. The more open I became to interacting with others, the more I
found my voice, and learned to express myself in a clear and concise manner. The challenge of
becoming more independent has affected my academic achievement in a positive manner
because I exercised the power to make my own decisions, my independence grew, and
eventually I was doing many things independent from my core group of friends because I knew
what steps to take in order to succeed. I have gradually gained independence by understanding
where my own priorities truly lie. I started to realize that coming over here was the best for me.
I took the problems as challenges and I was able to overcome it. I believe anyone would be able
to overcome challenges or problems in their daily lives just like me.
