Methods and procedure


This chapter covers the methods and techniques used by the researchers in the
process of gathering and collecting the data. This data are very significant in order for the
researcher to arrive with profound finding and conclusion regarding the problem of the study. It
also includes the statistical treatment,where research used mathematical formulas.
Research Design
In conducting this study, the researcher made use of the descriptive method with the
use of survey questionnaire as the main instrument.
Descriptive research is defined as a research method that describes the characteristics of the
population or phenomenon that is being studied. This methodology focuses more on the “what”
of the research subject rather than the “why” of the research subject.
In other words, descriptive research primarily focuses on describing the nature of
a demographic segment, without focusing on “why” a certain phenomenon occurs. In other
words, it “describes” the subject of the research, without covering “why” it happens.
For example, an apparel brand that wants to understand the fashion purchasing trends among
New York buyers will conduct a demographic survey of this region, gather population data and
then conduct descriptive research on this demographic segment. The research will then uncover
details on “what is the purchasing pattern of New York buyers”, but not cover any investigative
details on “why” the patterns exits. Because for the apparel brand trying to break into this
market, understanding the nature of their market is the objective of the study

Data Gathering Instrument

The questionnaire is the main research instrument used by the researcher. The
researcher was able to formulate the questionnaire based on the problem of the study.
According to NCCP 2018 this Survey research is a commonly used method of collecting
information about a population of interest. There are many different types of surveys, several
ways to administer them, and many methods of sampling. There are two key features of survey
research:

Questionnaires. a predefined series of questions used to collect information from individuals

Sampling. a technique in which a subgroup of the population is selected to answer the survey
questions; the information collected can be generalized to the entire population of interest.

Validation of the Questionnaire

First,the researcher presented the draft of the questionnaire to Ms.cecile valido, the
research advicer to check if there are any grammatically errors that is needed to develop or
change. After changing the appropriate items, the researcher again presented to the research
adviser for the approval. Second,the research advicer will be going to ask another copy of
questionnaire to evaluate the reactions of the respondents.
