Course Title: Multimedia and Animation

Course Description:

This course deals with the nature of multimedia and animation, competence in
using different tools and application of arts and technology in daily life.

The course begins with the introduction and foundation of arts. By exploring
these topics, the participants will study the elements of arts, its appreciation and
criticism and philosophy. They will also learn to combined use of text, graphics, sound,
animation, and video. A primary objective of this course is to teach participants how to
develop multimedia programs. Another objective is to demonstrate how still images,
sound, and video can be digitized on the computer. Participants in this course will
create their own storyboard. The different aspects of 3D animation are also studied. The
participants are expected to go beyond their understanding of multimedia and
animation.

The course then proceeds to development and uses of different technological


tools in understanding and dealing with various aspects of present day-living, such as
television and film production, digital image processing, and digital film production.
These aspects will provide opportunities for actually doing multimedia and animation in
a broad range of exercises that bring out various dimensions of multimedia and
animation as a way of knowing, and test the participants’ understanding and knowledge
about the use of technology.

Course Objectives:

The participants are expected to:

1. know the uses of different Adobe application


2. formulate a working definition of interactive multimedia;
3. demonstrate the use of animation, digitized sound, video control, and scanned
images;
4. demonstrate the use of different animation techniques;
5. use basic instructional design principles in the development of stacks;
6. will develop conceptual maps of content and process for interactive multimedia
instructional programs

SESSION OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this session the participants are expected to:
1. talk about works of art and learn basic skills and knowledge necessary to
communicate in each art form;
2. learn the elements and principle of arts;
3. works with various media;
4. evaluate the work of master artists;
5. develop an awareness of an appreciation for the presence of art and modern
technology within the work area and everyday experiences;
6. will create projects and activities that give students the opportunity to create
works of arts using various media and techniques with application of modern
tools and technologies; and
7. form an appreciation of and a satisfying experience in the arts and modern
technology.

SUMMARY:
This session is about the study of art, its appreciation and criticism and
philosophy. It includes interactive activities and multicultural studio projects representing
wide variety of cultures, artistic style and art media. This session is design to enrich the
lives of its participants through discovery and creative thinking. It provides the
participants with broader perception of their environmental and cultural perspective with
the integration of modern technology.
Throughout this session, participants will keep a sketchbook and laptop. They will
develop an art portfolio featuring selected works of arts. In addition, participants will self-
examine completed works in an effort to foster a sense of accomplishment and
commitment to high standards of art production through the use of different tools like
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Page Make, and Adobe Illustrator.
