IDD Development-Plus Worksheet

Filling out this worksheet should help you to organize your thinking about the development,
implementation, and evaluation of your individual ID topic.
As you fill in this worksheet, you will be putting together your best ideas (plans) for the
following:
1. Development. Creating materials from your instructional design planning (your 06 IDD
Design Worksheet)
2. Implementation. Figuring out the logistics and any necessary support for your program’s
trainers or administrators.
3. Evaluation. Evaluating how well the program matches your requirements and goals for
it.
Note: For each section of this worksheet, be sure to refer to the 00 Support for Individual
Assignments document to assist you.
Note: Except for the first table, I’m expecting to see sentences and paragraphs.
Note: As usual, be sure to turn in your worksheet in MS Word.

Brief Introductory Info

Provide information in this table to give the briefest idea about your topic. This will likely be the
same as in your IDD Design Worksheet. If so, just duplicate that information here.
Your Name Sarah Barnhart
Manual Application Training for Error Prevention
Your IDD Topic
The Office of Admissions at California State University
Organization (Where the learning
Monterey Bay
solution will be implemented)
Primary audience will be current and future Admissions
Learners (Target Audience—it’s
Specialists. Secondary audience will be temporary

audience)
Note: I’ve set up the paragraphs after the worksheet prompts to be in normal APA Style (1/2-
inch indent for the first line and double-spaced lines). This will make it easier for you to cut and
paste paragraphs into a final IDD document (if required by another professor) or your Capstone
Proposal, which will be in APA Style. This also makes it easier for your professor to read your
document, so please do not alter the paragraph settings. (Be kind to your professor.)

Change Notes
Have you made any changes to your original thinking that I should be aware of when reading
this paper? For example, if you’ve changed your audience, topic, or design in significant ways,
please provide a short summary of those changes here.
I have decided to include a participant’s guide for the one-on-one session with a

Specialist that occurs at the end of the training. The guide will include questions to ask the

learner, such as how they feel about their experience with creating manual applications and

whether or not they feel comfortable doing so on their own. The guide will have explicit

questions to ask the learner. I decided to include this guide because I believe it will help the

Specialist guide the conversation in case the learner has no additional input. I think it will be

important in helping the experienced Specialist understand whether or not the trainee

comprehends particular aspects of the training.

Development Plan
At this point, your plan will be largely hypothetical. Still, it’s useful to think through what you
will create and what the timeline could be for creating your deliverables.
If you are working on your Capstone Project, it’s useful to consider that the module itself is
usually due approximately mid-November.
This blended instruction will include a slide presentation, a Camtasia video, a new job

aid, a Playposit video, and a participant’s guide.

Project Deliverables & Schedule

For the remaining tasks to develop, implement, and evaluate your program, list here the
deliverables and a schedule (you can use a list or table with a short introduction of a sentence or
two).
Please note that the development plan timeline is rather lengthy due to the fact that the majority

of the materials will need to be created, and existing materials will need to be revised. In

addition, there will be a need for assistance from other parties in order to create the program

successfully.

o Total time for development approximately eight months.

o With current software and free public programs available for use, department budgeting

and additional expenses will not be necessary.

Potential Challenges & Contingency Planning

List issues you think may be likely that might make it difficult to meet your project schedule.
Suggest a contingency plan to overcome those issues.
There will likely be issues when developing the performance test. Gaining access to a test

environment might be challenging because it requires individual accounts for the login

credentials. Accounts are usually provided for a single individual that is requesting access.

However, requesting access for a single individual during a training session delays the time of

training. The solution to this is having a general login account to a test environment, which will

require assistance from the Systems Analyst. I have considered this delay in my original plan,

but plan B will require creating a test environment in a new environment outside of Peoplesoft,

which may delay the setup time for the performance test.

Implementation Plan
For the purposes of this assignment, consider especially the role of the teacher/trainer/
instructor/facilitator and/or the role of an administrator (for self-study modules, where
applicable).
The Specialists will play a key role in the implementation of this training, as the training

is designed for a task that a Specialist generally completes. However, other administrators will be

trained as well.

Instructors and/or Administrators

Provide information here about the people you’ll need to teach, supervise, or support the delivery
of your learning solution.
The Specialists will be the lead in the operations of the training program. However, from

a managerial perspective, the Systems Analyst is a lead to the Admissions Specialist position.
IDD DEVELOPMENT-PLUS WORKSHEET 7

Therefore, the Systems Analyst will also need to be trained on the delivery of the training to

provide support and in case a Specialist is unable to do so. Within the Admissions department, it

is also important to have the management involved in the implementation and delivery of the

course. Therefore, I will include my office manager in on the training, and possibly the director

of Admissions as well.

Other Implementation Requirements

You may need to, for example, reserve a classroom, procure equipment, or market your learning
solution so that people will attend. You may also want to coordinate and/or garner the support of
managers, administrators, teachers, or parents to make implementation possible. Provide a short
summary here of the implementation requirements for your program.
The Communications Analyst will be providing the network to host the online training

materials and will need to be involved in the training setup. I will request support from our

department’s Operations Manager, as far as guidance on timeline requirements. It is important

that our office manager is involved in the implementation of the training so that we will have her

support on proper training procedures. Our manager will also need to be aware of when training

is taking place so that we can document who has the knowledge necessary to complete this task.

The training will take place at the learner’s computer station and will not require a reserved

room.

Evaluation Plan
Describe how you will do both formative and summative evaluation for your learning solution.
Formative and summative evaluations will take place throughout the duration of the

training implementation.

Formative Evaluation
Include here how you will do, for example, subject-matter expert reviews, developmental testing,
and, if applicable, user testing. (This is about testing your learning solution to make sure that it,
for example, has all the right components, is not confusing, doesn’t lose the learners partway
IDD DEVELOPMENT-PLUS WORKSHEET 8

through. This section is not about doing a formative evaluation of your students. That’s a whole
different thing.)
Specialist, who are the subject matter experts, will meet before and after the completion

to each module to examine course materials. Also, the Communication Analyst will test the

materials in the online host environment to ensure all links and materials work accordingly. In

addition, developmental tests with the admissions coordinators will be conducted at the end of

each module to check for inconsistencies and completeness of materials in the course. Because

the coordinators are often the folks requesting the manual applications, they know what to expect

from final product, and whether the learner gains the appropriate knowledge necessary to create

a manual application. I will make the appropriate adjustments based on feedback provided by the

coordinators.

Summative Evaluation
Describe your plan for capturing Level 1 information (how your learners react to the learning
solution). and a short statement about how you will determine Level 2 (whether the learners have
mastered the objectives). (You do not need to repeat any test items here.) Let us know if you plan
to conduct Levels 3 through 5, and be sure to say why or why not.
For my level 1 summative evaluation, and in an effort to collect a qualitative and

quantitative response, I will request users to complete a questionnaire after they finish their

training. The questionnaire will contain questions regarding user-friendly applications,

understandability, information retention, and suggested changes and improvements; it will also

contain a section for additional commentary. Level 2 will be based on the declarative and

procedural test results. Particularly, if the learner has managed to create the manual application

and post it successfully, then I will know that they have gained an accurate understanding of the

information provided throughout the training. In order to have a thorough and accurate training, I

will be conducting Kirkpatrick/Phillips level 3 through 4 as well. Conducting a level 3 evaluation

will help me determine the retention of information and a successful low to zero error rate by
IDD DEVELOPMENT-PLUS WORKSHEET 9

each learner. Conducting a level 4 evaluation will help me determine whether the training has

helped the office as a whole by reducing the ERSS/ERSA error rate.
