WHY ITS IMPORTANT

One of the biggest mistake newbie bloggers or Digital


Marketers make is not selecting the right niche.

Why?

You will be spending a lot of time on your site, marketing,


promotion, and so much more.

If you dont have a passion or a huge liking for your niche then
you will get bored and just stop everything else as well.

Ever wondered why a teenager might love playing video games


but hate cleaning his room, its because he loves to play games
and hence he never gets bored of it.

Similarly, if you dont love your niche be it books, dogs, football,


makeup, anything (you get my point right?) you will lose all
interest.

and...

Bye Bye to learning digital marketing.

So make sure you take this step seriously.


STEP 1: PICK A FIELD

Focus on one thing. Even if you want to conquer the world –


focus on one thing to start with.

What skills do you have?


Is there anything you enjoy doing?
It’s Saturday afternoon and you have free time. What do
you do?
What skills are you interested in learning?
What ideas have you come up with? (Important: Constantly
think of ideas).
Check Quora for more ideas
Is there something you enjoy writing about

Bonus step: Keep track of ideas you have in a notebook,


on your phone, etc (I prefer Evernote app).
STEP 2: PICK A NICHE

Now you have your website idea.

Next step: Niching.

Niching makes everything so much simpler because you only


have to focus and find few customers.

For example if you start a Guitar Teaching Site - who is your


target customer? People who love music or a more specialized
audience like people who are interested in just learning Guitar.

This step is extremely crucial.

Majority of the beginners makes the mistake of selecting a


general niche instead of a focused niche.

For example:
Pets is wrong, a Dog based site is right
Health is wrong, Yoga based site is right

You get my point right? You need to narrow down in your niche.
