Power Saving Home Automation System

This document presents a power saving home automation system using an Arduino board and PIR motion sensor. The system is designed to automatically control room lights by turning them on when motion is detected and turning them off in the absence of motion, in order to save electricity. The hardware used includes an Arduino UNO board, breadboard, LED, resistor, and PIR sensor. When the PIR sensor detects human motion, it sends a signal to the Arduino board to turn on the LED, representing room lights turning on. When no motion is detected, the LED turns off after a delay, representing lights turning off. The system aims to facilitate users and save power by only operating lights as needed based on motion detection.

1. INTRODUCTION

These days the technical as well as even non-technical person

is keen about automated devices and systems. This system is
found to be promising to those people who even knows the
basics of hardware software used and the person who doesn't
know much but just gets the mere idea of it because the IOT
using arduino has made it so fascinating and easy in applying
it in real life. Here the sensors has ease the way of giving input
to the embedded system. The arduino having output pins and
input pins embedded on it which is diminishing the complexity
of circuit connections. While demonstrating the usage of LED,
it is used as the representation of smaller idea to

represent them are interfaced with Arduino UNO. The
estimation of sensors brings a variation in the status of the

our movement to control the appliances, just by entering the
room switches on the appliances. In our experiment if we
move hands near the sensors it would sense the movement
and switch the LED on.

5. CONCLUSION

We came across different uses and applications of the IOT

how in daily life any person can invent their ideas and bring it
into real. The Arduino board has made it very simple for
programming the microcontroller since the usage was found to
be tough to others and if wanted to work on it person has to
have the knowledge of assembly language and hardware part
too.
