The 120mm M1028 Canister Cartridge was developed as a close-in defense weapon for the Abrams tank against massed infantry attacks and concentrations between 200-500 meters. It discharges a massive blast of tungsten ball fragments from the main cannon with devastating lethality against assaulting infantry and RPG teams. The cartridge contains around 11 kilograms of tungsten balls that are discharged at a muzzle velocity of over 1400 meters per second to break up groups of enemy infantry within its effective range.
