Figure 1: Simulink Block Diagram

The document describes simulations of a system's response after introducing a stepdown in coolant flow rate. Figures 1-5 show the block diagram, code, step input settings, and response of concentration C and temperature T over time. The concentration reaches steady state faster than the temperature, as expected when the coolant flow rate decreases. Linear analysis at different time points shows that the proportional gain kp changes while the time constant tau remains nearly constant, indicating a second-order system response for both concentration and temperature.

Figure 3: Step Input Setting

Introduce stepdown. Step down put 400 min to study the time that required for system
to reach steady state.

Figure 4: Response of Ca after Introduce Stepdown

Figure 5: Response of Temperature after Introduce Stepdown

From the figure 4 and figure 5, it is observed that the concentration takes shorter time
to reach steady compare to temperature. When the stepdown introduce it indicated that
the coolant flow rate is decrease thus it is reasonable for temperature of the reactor
increase.
select linear analysis

Choose “linearize at”, because system not in steady state at t=0

Choose few time samples t=60;80;100;120

Choose Linearlize
t=60, state space

T=60, tf

T=80, tf
T=100,tf

T= 120, tf

Since our system will not reach a constant steady state, the value of kp changes, but tau
only has small change

Both in second order, y1=C , y2=T
