II. HISTORY / BACKROUND OF THE STATION

• DZHP changed its call letters to DWKC and was rebranded as 93.9 WKC, first aired on
September 3, 1985, a C-D-E market radio station with famous taglines including "We are
family". On November 22, 1999 at 11:00 pm, 93.9 WKC signed off.
• On November 23, 1999 at 6:00 am, 93.9 FM reformatted as 939 KCFM (pronounced as
"ninety-three-nine"), now catering to the A-B market, with its slogan "Live It Up!" On
May 15, 2002, 939 KCFM signed off for the last time.
• On May 16, 2002, 93.9 FM reformatted back to a C-D-E market radio station, known
as 93.9 iFMwith its slogan Pwede! is headed by Fred M. Davis.
• In March 2009, iFM changed its logo as well the slogan to Sa iFM Siguradong Enjoy Ka!
And by January 2010, iFM also launched a new campaign as "Ang Bago Mong FM"
(Your New FM) with new DJs, new programs, a new 7-note jingle, internet promotions
and the addition of new talents.
• DWON, branded on-air as 104.7 iFM Dagupan, is a music FM radio station owned and
operated by the Radio Mindanao Network in the Philippines. It is one of the largest radio
networks in the Philippines. The station’s studio and transmitter are located at the 3rd floor
of Marigold Building, M.H. del Pilar Street, Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
• The network’s first radio station is DXCC, established in Cagayan de Oro on the island of
Mindanao in August 28, 1952. The callsign meant the radio partnership of Canoy and Cui.
It was changed later to a neutral meaning Cagayan de Oro community, as the founder would
soon write it in his memoir. The network studios and office in Metro Manila are located at
the 4/F Guadalupe Commercial Complex Bldg., EDSA Guadalupe Makati City.

a. Microphone
- It starts with the microphone which captures the sound or voice of the Dj and turn it into electrical
impulses.
b. Computer
- Introduces software inputs to the signal being processed.
c. Console
- It combines or mixed up the sounds and signals produce by the microphone. it also controls what is
heard on air.
d. Exciter
-An exciter (also called a harmonic exciter or aural exciter) is an audio signal processing technique used
to enhance a signal by dynamic equalization, phase manipulation, harmonic synthesis of (usually) high
frequency signals, and through the addition of subtle harmonic distortion.
e. Audio Processor
-Audio Processor is a complete solution for Multimedia Editing.
f. Transmitter
- This is where the signal gets frequency-modulated. Initializes final signal tweaks before transmission
through the antenna.
g. Coaxial cable
- Connecting radio transmitters and receivers to their antennas

- transmit the signal into the receiver.

Q: What is the radio time of operation?
A: Our time of operation is 22 hours, it starts from 3AM – 1AM

Q: What type of antenna does your station use?


A: We use a Jampro antenna

Q: What is the height of the antenna?


A: Our antenna is 80 ft tall.

Q: What problems does the station encounters?


A: Usually, the problem that we encounter is the billboard near our station because it blocks the
signal being transmitted.

Q: What are the municipalities that can reach your broadcasting services?
A: The entire Pangasinan can reach our broadcasting services, also a few barangays in Nueva
Ecija, La Union and Tarlac.

Q: Does your broadcasting services still continues when there is a power interruption? How about
storm?
A: Yes, the broadcasting still continues even if there is power interruption and storm. When
there’s a power interruption, we have generator. And when there’s a storm, we have lightning
arrester.

Q: Is 104.7 iFm Dagupan a mother station?


A: 104.7 iFm Dagupan is not a mother station. Its mother station is 93.9 iFm Manila which is
located at 4th floor Guadalupe Commercial Bldg., EDSA Guadalupe, Makati City.

Q: Do you accept advertisements?


A: Yes, we also accept advertisements. They can visit our station and also email us to avail
advertisements. Also, the advertisements depend on the package the company paid. Example of
this is an ad can only be played 5 times a day.
