UNIT I: (LAPLACE TRANSFORM)


Laplace Transform and their Simple Properties, Simple Application of Laplace
Transform to solve ordinary differential equations including simultaneous equations,
Solution of one dimensional partial differential equations by transform method.

UNIT II: (COMPLEX VARIABLES)


Analytic function, Cauchy-Riemann equations, conjugates function, singularities,
Cauchy’s integral theorem and integral formula (Statement only). Taylor’s and Laurent
Theorem (Statement Only), Residue theorem, contour integration.

UNIT III: (CALCULUS OF VARIATIONS)


Maxima and Minima of functionals, Variation and its properties Euler’s equation,
Functional dependents on first and second order derivatives, Simple applications.

UNIT IV: (FOURIER SERIES AND SIGNAL SPECTRA)


Introduction, The Fourier Theorem, Evaluation of Fourier Coefficient, Consideration of
Symmetry (Odd, Even, Rotational), Exponential form: Fourier series, Integral Theorem,
Fourier Transform and Continuous Spectra.

UNIT V: (PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS)


Partial differential equations of first order and first degree-Lagrange’s form, linear
homogeneous equations of higher order with constant coefficients. Method of separation
of variables, Application to transmission Line.
UNIT VI: (MATRICES)
Inverse of Matrix by ad joint method and it used in solving simultaneous equations, Rank
of Matrix, Consistency of System of equation, Inverse of Matrix by portioning method,
Linear dependents, Linear and Orthogonal Transformation. Characteristics equation
Eigen Values and Eigen Vectors, Reduction to Diagonal form, Cayley – Hamilton
Theorem (Without proof) statement and verification. Sylfetor’s Theorem, Association of
Matrices with linear differential equation of second order with constant coefficient,
determination of largest Eigen Value and Eigen Vector by iteration method.

UNIT V: (POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE FEEDBACK AMPLIFIERS)


Feedback Amplifiers, Classification, Practical Circuit Application, Advantages.
Oscillators, Stability, Bark Hausen Criteria, RC, LC and Crystal Oscillators.

UNIT VI: (FET AND ITS ANALYSIS)


Field Effect Transistor, MOSFET, Principles of operation and characteristics, Biasing
arrangement, small signal analysis of CG, CD and CS High frequency analysis.

Phase Watt Meter, power factor Meter, Instrument Transformer. Measurement of low,
medium and high resistance.

UNIT III
Bridges: Wheat Stone, Kelvin, Maxwell’s, Hays, Schering, Wein bridge, Potentiometers,
Measurement of Inductance, Capacitance using AC Bridges.

UNIT IV
Amplified DC meters, AC volt meter using rectifiers, True RMS Voltmeter, Electronics
Multimeter, Digital Voltmeter, Component measuring instruments, Q meter, RF and
voltage measurements.

UNIT V
Oscilloscope: Block diagram, CRT, Deflection system, Delay line, multiple trace,
Triggering, Delayed sweep, Digital Storage Oscilloscope.

UNIT VI
Frequency, Time and power measurement Signal Analysis.

synthesis, Analysis of RC, RL and RLC networks with and without initial conditions
with Laplace Transform, Evaluation of initial conditions.

UNIT 5:
Transient Behavior, Concept of complex frequency, Driving point and transfer
functions, poles and zeros of Immittance function, their properties, sinusoidal
response from pole zero location, convolution. Theorem and Integral solutions.

UNIT 6:
Two port network parameters and interconnections, behavior of series and parallel
resonant circuits. Introduction to band pass, low pass, high pass and band reject
filters.
