4.11 menyusun cerita sejarah tentang kehidupan bangsa Indonesia di bidang
sosial, ekonomi, budaya, militer, dan pendidikan pada zaman pendudukan Jepang.
II. Indicators
1. Contents indicators
1. Analyzing how was Indonesia in the field of military at the age of Japan
colonialization.
2. Identifying the effect of Japan colonialization to Indonesia in the field of
military.
3. Explaining the difference between Japan and Dutch colonialization in the
field of military.

1. Understanding the use of past tense in order to understand the meaning in

1. By the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to analyze

3. By the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to explain the
difference between Japan and Dutch colonialization in the field of

about Japan colonialization in the field of military in Indonesia.

word or vocabularies in order to understanding the meaning and the
context about Japan colonializaton in the field of military in Indonesia.

IV. Learning Materials


1. Content materials
1.) Military organization
The military organization formed by Japan is heiho and map.
a. Heiho or a maid of Japanese warriors
Heiho was formed in April 1945. Its members are young people aged 18-25 years with
the lowest primary education. Heiho is a container provided by Japan for Indonesian
youth as a rank and file for army unit aides and is part of the Japanese army. Heiho is an
official military.
b. Maps or defenders of the homeland
The map was originally formed in the territory of the 16th army in Java and Madura. The
map was formally established on October 3, 1943. The person responsible for the
education of the map exercises was Yanagawa. Maps developed not only carried out, but
also outside Java. In Sumatra, maps are known as Giyugun (voluntary soldiers). There is
a statement that states that the formation of maps is a request of the Indonesian people to
Japan at the suggestion of R. Gatot Mangkoepradja. Peta has the duty to defend the
Indonesian homeland. Famous map figures, including Soeprijadi, General Soedirman, and
Gatot Soebroto generals.
2.) Semimiliter organization
The semimiliter organization formed by Japan is suishintai, seinendan, keibodan, fujinkai,
hizbullah, seinentai, and gakutotai.

Suishintai or a vanguard was formed on November 1, 1944 and was inaugurated on
September 25, 1944. The vanguard was led by Ir.Soekarno, R. Pandji Soeroso, Otto
Iskandardinata, and Dr. Bounce on Martoadmodjo. Post-independence, this organization
was known as the barisanbanteng. The vanguard was the first youth organization in the
Japanese colonial era which was guided directly by Indonesian nationalists.
b. Keibodan
Keibodan or a line of police aides was formed on April 29, 1943. The purpose of
establishing the religious organization was to assist police duties, for example
maintaining traffic and maintaining village security. Keobodan in Sumatra is famous for
its bogodan name, while in Kalimantan it is known as the Konan Hokokudan borneo. The
formation of keibodan is intended for young people aged 26-35 years.
c. Seinendan
Seinendan or ranks of youth were formed on March 9, 1943. This organization was
prepared to defend their respective regions. The requirement to become a member of the
general board is youth 26-35 years old.
d. Fujinkai
Fujinkai or a line of women was formed in August 1943. The purpose of Fujinkai's
formation was to help Japan in the war against allies. Its members are women aged 15
years and over.
e. Seinentai and gakutotai
Elementary school children are formed as well and for high school children gakutotai is
formed. Among other semimilitary organizations, gakutotai is the smallest member
organization in terms of age.
f. Hezbollah
Hezbollah was formed on 15 December 1944. Hezbollah is a voluntary force or
reserve force consisting of Islamic youth. This organization is chaired by K.H. Zainal
Arifin and his representative Mohammad Roem.
V. Teaching Learning Strategies

VI. Learning Activities


1. Opening.
a. Teacher greets students and ask them how is their day.
b. Teacher introduces the material that students will learn.
c. Teaher gives a brief explanation about Japan colonialism in military.
d. Teacher asks students whether students have any questions or not.
3. Main activity
a. Teacher divides students into groups of 5 or 6 students
b. Divide the lesson into 5-6 segments
c. Give students time to read over their segment at least twice and become
familiar with it
d. Bring the students back into their jigsaw groups
e. Float from group to group, observing the process.
4. Closing
a. Teacher asks 2 or 3 students to make conclusion about today’s material
