Unconscious Goal Installation - Workbook
Unconscious Goal Installation - Workbook
The Programming
The unconscious mind runs the programs of your life – much like a computer. Most of the
programming of the core level of your unconscious mind – beliefs and limits – happens in the
years from 4 – 12 years old. When you successful change a behaviour, you are changing that
programming. You can edit that programming to create instant change.
Hypnosis
All hypnosis is self hypnosis. Your unconscious mind is the real hypnosist. The hypnotherapist is
just a tour guide to get you there and install the suggestions that you desire. Hypnosis thus is a
partnership between coach and client. Without that co-operation, there is no hypnosis. The
client is always in full control, can hear everything and can wake at any time they feel the need.
Anyone can be hypnotized – it does not require you be gullible – intelligent, creative people are
the best subjects.
Imagination is the key to this practice. And that being said, imagination is what allows you to
access the unconscious, highly symbolic part of your mind. Different methods will work better
for different people so approach this with a sense of curiosity, positive expectation and fun. All
that is required is a positive attitude and a decision to play along.
Repeated practice allows you to go into hypnosis easier and deeper each time. The deeper you
go, the more profound the results you can achieve.
Value
Telling the unconscious mind what you want to have happen directly. Re-writing a program that
no longer works for you whether it is a habit, addiction, belief or anxiety. Each of these is simply
a program running in your brain and that means that you can edit them. Build healthy, wealthy
and happy from the inside out.
Suggestions are rapidly delivered instructions stated directly to the unconscious mind.
Suggestions should be delivered 3 x 3 ways.
Suggestions
Ecological, using the client’s words, hopes, goals, ideas – visual, auditory, kinesthetic details
that resonate with the client.
Building Suggestions
There is a simple process to achieving all of your results, that starts with deciding what you truly
want. Your vision leads to your goals, goals lead to your results, resources will be needed to
reach those results.
Outcomes for Success Imagery Describe what you will be doing or not doing that is different
from what you are doing now. What will that look like? Right down to the place, clothes, stage
you are on. Sound like? Including applause, testimonials, congratulations. What will you be
saying? Others be saying? How will that feel? What will you taste? Cake, wine? Smell roses?
Resources Needed
What will help you reach this goal? Time, learning, money, support, commitment, motivation,
excitement, consistency
Now rewrite 2 other ways. Other phrases of value: automatically able to, confidently,
momentum builds,
Success Imagery
VAKOG in the now and positive: Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Olfactory, Gustatory
In addition to the suggestions, we will build into our deepener a full picture of the result and
power it up with emotions. Copy your Outcomes VAKOG and paint as a word picture – a story
of your success.
In NLP, goals are generally referred to as “outcomes” and an outcome is the answer to the NLP
question “What do you want?” An outcome is something that you intend to accomplish or
attain. Traditional goal setting in business talks about SMART goals – ones that are Specific,
Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timed. NLP adds extra dimensions through the process of
setting well-formed outcomes (examples shown in red below) that ensure you achieve your
SMART goals.

Toward what you want
Setting yourself a NLP SMART goal or well-formed outcome helps you get from where you are
now – having a glimmer of a dream – to achieving your dream.
How is a NLP SMART goal different from other goal-setting processes? Some of the advantages
of incorporating well-formed outcomes include:
✓ You get to understand the hidden reasons behind your desires and fears
relating to this specific goal or outcome.
✓ You recognize resources you have, such as skills or people to help you,
and also resources that you may need to develop or find.
✓ Most importantly, by engaging all your senses, the goal becomes so
compelling that you can only achieve it.
Before you work through the seven steps to a NLP SMART goal or well-formed outcome in the
section below, consider the points here that can make your existing ideas even “smarter” and
help you gain more clarification about what you really want.
✓ Do an ecology check: An ecological goal in NLP terms means that the
outcome works in all areas of your life. For example, if your goal is to be a
millionaire but doing so means neglecting your emotional needs and
ignoring your family, then chances are the goal isn’t really ecological.
✓ Set the context: In making a NLP SMART goal or well-formed outcome,
getting the context right is very important. What setting the context
means is that you drill down and focus on exactly when, where, and with
whom you want this goal.
✓ Look for secondary gain: In NLP, a secondary gain relates to a behavior
that appears to be negative or cause problems, but which in fact serves a
positive function at some level. An example is a smoker who knows that
smoking is harmful to her health, yet appreciates the secondary gain of
the peace and quiet of sitting outside for a cigarette and feeling calm and
solitary. When you identify secondary gain, you can remove blocks to
your success.
So, find yourself some quiet time, away from your nearest and dearest and the telephone,
invite your unconscious mind to the party, and get cracking at designing at designing the next
phase of your wonderful life. If you’re going, “Gee, where am I going to find the time?, just ask
yourself what the secondary gain is for you in avoiding doing this exercise.

7. What is the
first step?
When you’re hesitating over a decision and want to further check on your SMART goal or well-
formed outcome, ask yourself:
1. What will happen if I do this?
2. What will happen if I don’t do this?
3. What won’t happen if I do this?
4. What won’t happen if I don’t do this?
It can be valuable to think about who needs your service most and what would happen if you
don’t reach them, and they never get that help.
