Manual For Trouble Shooting and Calibration of Load Cell

This document provides instructions for mounting and calibrating an LS-3000-CL load cell system. It describes: 1) Mounting the load cell to a flange using dowel screws and ensuring it can rotate and move axially. 2) Mounting a cable gland and flange assembly. 3) Mounting an amplifier to the flange using a DIN rail and making connections between the load cell and amplifier. 4) Calibrating the system by applying zero load, adjusting the output, applying full load and adjusting again.

1. Mounting load cell to flange.

Fig 1.
1.1 Clean the load cell and the flange before you manually slide the
load cell into its seat, see illustration picture ref fig 1.
It is veary important that the load cell slide easy in to the rigth
position. This inserting of the load cell should be done without
the use of any tools.

Fig 2.

1.2 Use original dowel screws, and secure them with Loctite 243, see
illustration in fig 2. After tightening the dowel screws, it should
be posible to rotate the load cell so much as the clearance are for
the screwhead and it also should be posible to move the load cell
axial approximately 0,3 to 0,4mm.

Position for cable-gland

described in 3.3
Fig 3.

2. Mounting cable gland to flange and load cell.

2.1 Insert the cable gland to the cable and use Loctite 243 to fix the
cable gland to the flange, see fig 3.
2.2 Assembly flange to complete winch

3. Mounting amplifier to flange and load cell.

3.1 Mounting the 35mm DIN

rail to the flange with two
M6X8 screws, and Loctite
243.
3.2 Snap on the screw terminal
to the rail, and insert the
amplifier to the screw
terminal. See fig 3.
3.3 Hook up the load cell and
the 4 – 20mA cable to the
screw terminal, see
illustrated drawing and
connections (Fig 5). Note!
Connect screen to cable-
gland as illustrated (Fig 4).

4.1 Measure 24Vdc on supply terminals P+(11) and P-(A1)

4.2 Insert multimeter (mA reading) to measure current loop between P-
(A1) and cabinet
4.3 Insert calibration jumper between terminal 21 and 31
4.4 Make sure 0 kN is applied to the winch
4.5 Push BOTH “zero buttons” at the same time
4.6 Verify 4 mA in current loop
4.7 Apply nominal load to the winch
4.8 Push “gain+” or “gain-“ to adjust mA value according to Pusnes spec.
and write down mA on load cell certificate.
4.9 REMOVE jumper connection from BOTH terminals 21 and 31
4.10 Remove multimeter (mA reading) in current loop loop between P-
(A1) and cabinet

5. Trouble shooting

Failure : If mA signal is unstable or impossible to adjust, check following:

1. Check if the calibration jumper is removed.

2. Check for any moisture inside the box.
3. Check 24VDC between terminal 11 and A1
4. Try to change the faulty amplifier with another amplifier and see if the
problem continuse. If it does, the problem is most likely within the load
cell.
5. In case of unstable signal, remove wire between A2 and chassis, if
improvement, remove wire permanently.
6. Measure voltage between E+ & S+ = 2,4V, E- & S- = 2,4V, E+ & E- =
4,7V.
7. Disconnect wires from load cell and check ohm values: 4K ohm between
white-black and blue-grey. If not OK, change load cell.
