Project in Math: Fourth Quarter

Quadratic equations can be written in the form ax^2 + bx + c = 0, where a, b, and c are real numbers and a ≠ 0. They can be solved by factoring, completing the square, using the quadratic formula, or by graphing the quadratic function. The graph of a quadratic function is a parabola with a vertex and line of symmetry. To find the vertex, take the x-coordinate as -b/2a and substitute this into the original equation to find the y-coordinate.

Quadratic Equations

It is an equation that can be written in the form

ax² + bx + c= 0 from real numbers a, b, and c
with c ≠ 0. The equation ax² + bx + c=0 is
called the standard form of quadratic equation.
