The tumpong (also inci among


the Maranao) is a type

2.) Bansik Instrument Filipinos make a wide variety of musical

are the kalaleng (Tinggian flute), bansik
Zambales (Zambales Negrito flute), lantuy (Visayan
bamboo clarinet), tulali (Sulod flute),
sahunay (Tausug flute), diwdiw-es (Abra-
Tinggian panpipe), nose flutes called
baliing (Apayao) or kipanaw (Abra
Tinggian) (Mangyan flute).
3.) Faglong Instrument

A Faglong is a Philippine two-


stringed, fretted boat-lute. It is four to
six feet long with nine frets made of
hardened beeswax. The instrument is
carved out of solid softwood such as
Maguindanao from the jackfruit tree. A constant
drone is played with one string while
Tausug People the other, an octave above the drone,
plays the melody with a pluck.

4.) Kudyapi Instrument

The kutiyapi, or kudyapi, is


a Philippine two-stringed, fretted
boat-lute. It is the only stringed
Maranao People instrument among the Palawano
people, and one of several among
other groups such as
the Maranao and Manobo. It is four to
six feet long with nine frets made of
hardened beeswax. The instrument is
carved out of solid soft wood such as
that from the jackfruit tree.
5.) Sahunay Instrument

is a bamboo flute, leaving
six holes for the fingers and
trumpet made of coconut leaf.
Tausug People
It is about 50 cm long and 3
(Sulu) cm in diameter. This is a
bamboo flute of the Tausugs in
Sulu.
