DENNIS SANDS
Keeping the trend we started with the full CineSeries CORE and PRO, we were able to
bring Dennis in once again to lend his legendary talent to this project, by using his Full
Mix microphone settings from the
complete series. Dennis is one of the
most sought after mixers in Hollywood.
His credit list is a sight to behold (Back
to the Future, The Avengers, Captain
America, Shawshank Redemption,
American Beauty), and includes some
of our favorite scores. As usual, it was
an honor to work with Dennis; his
contribution to the CineSeries is the
crucial ingredient that gives the
libraries their trademark Hollywood
sound.

The Tonal and Atonal Rips Patch
This patch contains samples of short tonal and atonal rips of both upward and
downward directions. The tonal mode gives the option of choosing the target note’s
pitch, while the atonal mode provides multiple round robins of the selected type of
atonal rip (sul E upward, sul A upward, downward).

Keyboard Layout
The Kontakt Keyboard layout for these patches (with the exception of the atonal rips)
are divided into three main sections.
The Red keys allow you to choose the pitch of the selected type of scale; the Yellow
keys act as keyswitches for the different types of scales; and the Blue keys allow you to
choose the different variations of the selected type of scale (2 octaves up, 1 octave up,
etc.)
The keyboard layout for the Atonal rips is slightly different from the rest because of its
absence of pitch.
Instead of the Red keys for pitch, the Atonal rips have three sets of Blue keys, with each
grouped set triggering a certain variation of the Atonal rip : sul E upward rip, sul A
upward rip, and a downward rip. The different Blue keys within each variation group will
trigger a different round robin of the Atonal rip variation.

The MAPPING Tab
The Mapping tab allows you to choose the type of scale you wish to use. This interface
also displays the notes of the scale being played, as well as some information on the
triggered sample file.
This section also includes the Tempo Selection knobs. You can adjust these knobs to
play back the runs normally, in double time, in half time, or in a tempo of your choosing;
you can set the tempo manually by using the righthand Speed knob.

The MIXER Tab
We have included a set of Full Mix, Close, Room, and Surround mics as mixing options.
You can load and unload the different mic samples from your RAM manually by using
the on/off switches above their respective fades.
You can also apply reverb using send knobs in conjunction with the light grey reverb
knob/switch in the bottom right. Click the [Preset] button below the reverb knob to
choose from seven different impulse responses taken from the famous Bricasti M7
hardware reverb. An EQ is also available on the right, if you wish to tweak the sound
further.
For quick and easy access to different mixing options, cycle through the presets on the
left. The various options make use of different mic configurations’ unique sounds, and
will give you tremendous flexibility when working in a variety of cinematic settings.

The SETTINGS Tab
We have provided controls for multiple effects for your convenience - HiPass and
LowPass filters, Delay, Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Distortion and Compression. The user
can assign Midi CCs to any of these controls. By clicking on the preset button beneath
the reverb control, you can also change to a different reverb preset. When using these
built-in Kontakt effects keep in mind that they can be very heavy on your CPU.
Turning on the Sample Start control will let you use the knob to advance the sample
start position. This will make the attack of the note sound less realistic, but can lead to
increased tightness and responsiveness from the instrument.
