T his document contains the information necessary for the mechanical and basic electrical
installation of the Universal Alarm, Monitoring and Control System type UCS 2100 and
Universal Monitoring System, type UMS 2100. I n this case the sections of the document
marked "for UCS only" are not used.
Detailed electrical installation drawings for the specific vessel are provided separately.
T his document must be read carefully before unpacking the UMS/UCS 2100 System.

E ach package that leaves the factory is packed according to specifications depending upon
weights and measures, as well as special environmental conditions to which the package may
be subjected during transport. However, in order to avoid the possibility of damage during
transport and storage the following minimum conditions should be met.
Storage temperature must not exceed the operating temperature limit of the
equipment (55 deg. c).
Storage humidity must not exceed the operating humidity limits for the equipment
(90% R H).
Do not store the packed or unpacked equipment in direct sun light or nearby
sources of direct heat such as radiators.
Do not place or store equipment in areas where welding is being carried out, or
where high dust or gas contamination of the air is present.
When using crane or slings to move the packed or unpacked equipment, do not
connect wires or ropes directly to the package or equipment. Use nets.
Devices which are not put operation immediately after installation, must be
protected against soiling by means of a cover film.
I f a package appears to be damaged upon arrival, DO NOT OPE N the package. R eport such
transport damage directly to L yngsø Marine.
I f a package is opened and the equipment is found damaged, DO NOT I NST AL L the
equipment. R eport directly to L yngsø Marine.
I f it is possible, photographs of the damage should be sent to LyngsøMa rine immediately.

I nstallation Guidelines
T he B asic Alarm Panel is normally installed in the E CR control console and in the B ridge
console, while the Accommodation Alarm Panels are installed at the cabins of the duty
engineers, navigators and in public rooms.
It is recommended to mount the Alarm Panels on an upright surface (bulkhead) with easy
access to the panels. T he Alarm Panels can be mounted in three different ways as follows:
a Console flush mounted
b B ulkhead flush mounted
c B ulkhead mounted
T he V ideo Display Unit - V DU is installed on top of the SPU (14" only), on a table or in a
console by using two mounting brackets delivered together with the V DU. T he two brackets
are fixed to the table/console by means of four (4) fixing bolts, metric 8 mm with hexagonal
heads.
Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.29v, (15" V DU)
Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.31v, (17" V DU)
Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.33v. (21" V DU)
I f the V DU is delivered for console, flush mounting, a separate mounting kit is delivered with
the V DU. T he mounting kit enable mounting of the V DU from the back of the console and
fixed to the console by means of four (4) fixing bolts, metric 8 mm with hexagonal heads.
Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.30v, (15" V DU)
Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.32v, (17" V DU)
Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.34v. (21" V DU)
T he System Processing Unit - SPU is normally installed close to the V DU, (e.g. below the
table or inside the console) due to the short connection cable on the V DU (length
approximately 2 m), by using two mounting brackets delivered together with the SPU. The
two brackets are fixed to the mounting location by means of four (4) fixing bolts, metric 6
mm with hexagonal heads. Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.36v.
T he K eyboard is normally installed just in front of the V DU by using two mounting brackets
delivered together with the K eyboard. E ach bracket is fixed to the table/console by means of
two (2) fixing bolts, metric 5 mm. Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.40v.
T he E A D I nterface box is supplied with 2.5 metre cable that must be connected to the
System Processing Unit. T he E AD interface box is fixed to the mounting location by means
of four (4) fixing bolts, metric 4 mm with cylinder heads.
Please refer to drawing no.: 962.000.42v.

I nstallation Guidelines
T he maximum internal power consumption (24 V dc) for an outstation with one Gamma PL C will be
from approx. 4 A / 96 W for a standard configuration up to 7 A / 168 W for a configuration without
analog inputs at all.
T he power supply for each Gamma in an Outstations and Alarm Panels should be taken from different
power groups, i.e. each power supply cable has it's own fuse.
