CHAPTER III

Research Design and Methodology

This chapter clearly presents the research method to be used, respondents of the study,

and the locale of the study. It also enlists the research instruments, data gathering procedure,

and statistical tools to be used in the study. Discussions on the distribution, accumulation, and

consolidation of the questionnaires are stated in this chapter.

Methods of Research

The method of research to be used will have to be specified. The use of the method must be

justified.

Locale of the Study

This includes the place/venue where the study was undertaken.

Respondents/Subject of the Study

The population of the study must be stated in terms of “who” and “how many”. If a sample is to

be taken from the population, then the sampling technique must also be explained.

Research Instruments
The research instruments must be described in terms of content, nature and source. If the

instrument is constructed by the researcher, then the validation process should likewise be

discussed. The instrument is to be used for gathering the data needed for the study.

Data Gathering Procedure

How the data are gathered must be discussed in detail in this section. It must also include the

ethical considerations such as seeking approval from proper authorities for conducting the

research or for gathering data.

Validation Process

Sample: The researchers used the face and content validation process. Face validation was

done by two (2) High School teacher in English of Roosevelt College Marikina, namely, Mrs.

Xxx1 and Ms. Xxx2. Mrs. Xxx1’s total evaluation to the questionnaire is x̄ = 4, while Ms. Xxx2’s

total evaluation is x̄ = 4.67. therefore, the questionnaire is both valid and agreed by the

evaluators.

Statistical Tools/Treatment of Data

The statistical tools which are used to answer the problem must be stated. The reason for

using the statistics may likewise be explained. It is the results of the statistical computations

which will guide the researcher in the interpretations of the data.
