Seminar On: Topic of Mathematical Biology

This seminar discusses the SIR criss cross epidemic model. The SIR model divides a population into susceptible, infected, and removed compartments. The SIR criss cross model considers two interacting populations. The document outlines the basics of epidemic models and the SIR model. It then presents the mathematical model and equations for the SIR criss cross model. An example application to two interacting populations is shown and solved.

Definitions

 Epidemic Model : An epidemic model is a simplified means of describing the

transmission of communicable disease through individuals.
 SIR model : A Model in which considered a fixed population with only three
compartments susceptible, infected and removed.
 Incubation period : The time from the moment of Exposure to are infections agent
until sign and symptoms of the disease appear .
 Basic reproduction rate : The number of secondary infections produced by one
primary infective in a wholly susceptible population.
