Core and Outcrop Description Guide

The document provides guidelines for describing and interpreting core and outcrop sections. It includes: 1. Describing the outcrop geometry, dimensions, lithology, contacts, sedimentary structures, and sequencing of lithology units. 2. Interpreting the sedimentary processes, ecology, depositional environment, type of reservoir, and stratigraphy based on core descriptions. Facies models are constructed from core interpretation to infer fluvial, coastal, or deepwater depositional systems. 3. An example core description and interpretation of the Mallawa-1 section in the Tonasa Formation is given to demonstrate the approach.
