Course Objective
This workshop aims to allow students to have a hands on experience in using and manipulating
spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel. It also helps them use Excel spreadsheet modelling as an important
aid in managerial decision making. The workshop introduces students to the most widely used
techniques in Excel spreadsheet presentation and modelling. Students will be able to apply various
techniques coming from various real business cases pertaining but not limited to sales and marketing,
finance and investments, and operations. This workshop will allow students to:
1. Familiarize themselves with advanced methodologies for using Microsoft Excel
2. Practice various Excel functions and techniques
3. Enhance their data organization and presentation skills
4. Talk numbers through data analysis
5. Make smarter decisions using Excel

1&2 Spreadsheet tasks, spreadsheet functions: Formatting, Editing, Shortcuts, Functions
Advanced editing and data manipulations: pivot tables, autocomplete, filtering,
conditional formatting
3&4 Referencing, data validation, filtering, naming ranges, advanced lookups, formulas, data
tables, charting
5&6&7 Working with text, statistical functions, financial functions, reference functions, macros,
data validations, protecting worksheets and workbook.
The topical coverage will be adapted to the level of the class. Additional topics may be added later.
