**Feel free to send me a PM on Reddit if you have any questions**

Intro - Please Read

If you’ve ever played against someone with a non-English name, you may have noticed that
their name is much larger than the standard font. This also affects the “Eliminated X” font for
anyone that kills you. (Pictured below)

It is also possible to apply this font to an English Battletag (only on PC) by using a specific
accented character in your name e.g. (Ǎ,Ȅ,Ŧ, etc). However only certain characters will work,
with seemingly no logic behind which ones will or won’t trigger the font, and since Blizzard only
allows one free name change (With more costing $10 USD Each), it’s important that you know
which ones to use.

I have been able to determine virtually every character that will trigger the font, however there
are a lot of variables and restrictions with this method so please READ THE ENTIRE POST
before trying it yourself.

NOTE: If you do want to try this, do so at your own risk. While I tried my best, I still can’t
guarantee it will work for you, or that Blizzard won’t change this in the future. It was something I
couldn’t find any info on so I thought while I figure it out I may as well share it. :)

A few examples of the names in-game: http://imgur.com/a/mPtwJ

More comparisons: http://imgur.com/a/ZI7HB
(Notice that a longer battletag will shrink in height quite quickly with this font, I would
recommend a battletag with about 6 characters total.)
Location Restrictions
Blizzard has different restrictions of characters depending on the Country that you created your
account in. Each country is secretly a part of a “region” (not related to the game servers) which
determines whether this method will work or not.

Most Important: This method will NOT WORK in Australia, New Zealand, or any other country
close to them.

Regions that DO work:

NA USA, Canada, etc

LA Brazil, etc

EU UK, Sweden, France, Finland, Spain, Germany, etc

Regions that DO NOT work:

SE Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, etc

JP Japan

RU Ukraine, Kazakhstan, etc

TH Thailand

I don’t really know which countries are the most popular so I just picked a few. If you’re unsure
which region your country is in let me know and I can check and update the list above.

Characters That Work

Invisible / Square Characters
If you’ve learned about this method in the past few months, you may have seen people
recommending the use of the “Ƕ” character, saying it triggered the font, but was invisible
in-game, making it look like you didn’t have any accented characters. This was recently
broken in a patch and DOES NO LONGER WORK. Instead, you see a square where the
character should be. (See below)

This does still trigger the font, and I’m guessing some people will like the square, so I’ll leave
it here for anyone that wants it. However, I think it’s likely these will be changed again by
Blizzard though so I wouldn’t recommend using them.

Valid Characters
If you have at least one of these characters in your Battletag, it will trigger the font. Beware that
there are other characters that look identical to the ones on this list, but will not work.

Please ensure you are using the character with the same Unicode Value (U+0000) as the
ones on this list. I’ve been using this website to ensure I’m using the right character:
https://unicode-table.com. You can search the unicode value in the search bar to find the exact
character and can copy that onto the battlenet website.

Full Width
It’s rare, but you may have seen someone with a battletag with full width characters (see
below). This is only possible in certain regions, specifically JP but I imagine they would work in
other asian regions as well.

Anndd that’s it! I hope at least some of you can find this useful and if you have any questions
please leave a comment on my reddit post linked at the top and bottom of this post.
I also want to give a very big thank you to /u/Alariks and /u/Zilas for helping me make my
research MUCH easier and making this many character possible!
