9 Icse Physics Test

This document contains the questions from a 9th grade ICSE physics test. It includes 9 multiple parts questions on topics like: (1) Calculating the acceleration and time for a plane to reach a take-off speed. (2) Deriving the kinematic equation v^2 = u^2 + 2as. (3) Analyzing a displacement-time graph to calculate average velocity and displacement between times. (4) Calculating distance traveled and time to stop for a car slowing down over a distance.

PHYSICS TEST
a. A plane has a take-off speed of 100 m/s and requires 1500 m to reach
that speed. Determine the acceleration of the plane and the time
required to reach this speed. [3]
b. Do as directed- [3]

c. Derive the equation v 2 = u2 + 2as. [3]

d. Do as directed-[3]
Displacement (m) 0 4 8 12 16 20
Time (s) 0 1 2 3 4 5
From the displacement-time table given above draw a
graph choosing a suitable scale.
From the graph calculate
(i) average velocity
(ii) displacement between 1.5 s and 3.5 s.
e. A motor car slows down from 72 km-hr–1 to 36 km-hr–1
over a distance of 25 m. If the brakes are applied with the
same force, calculate (i) distance travelled by the car (ii)
total time in which the car comes to rest. [2]
f. A motor car slows down from 72 km-hr–1 to 36 km-hr–1 over
a distance of 25 m. If the brakes are applied with the same
force, calculate (i) distance travelled by the car (ii) total
time in which the car comes to rest. [2]
g. Write down the type of motion of a body during A – O-B in
each of the following distance- time graphs : [3]
h. Define following terms- [8]
1. Pendulum
2. Frequency
3. Amplitude
4. Retardation
i. Differentiate between –speed and velocity. [3]
