Bullying Activity Sheet

Cyberbullying is the use of technology like cell phones and social media to harass or threaten someone. It is difficult for victims to escape because it can happen anywhere and anytime. The effects of cyberbullying include fear, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and in some cases suicide. While the direct bully is at fault, parents, social media companies, and police all have some responsibility to address this issue. Everyone must work together to curb cyberbullying and create a safer world for all.

TITLE : Cyber-bullying
TARGET: Deliver a concise report about cyber-bullying
REFERENCE: English 10 LM pages. 27- 29
CONCEPT NOTES:
Cyber-bullying is the use of cell phones, instant messaging, e-mail, chat
rooms or social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to harass, threaten
or intimidate someone. Cyber-bullying is often done by children, who have
increasingly early access to these technologies.
An oral report also has the same three basic parts as a written report. The
introduction should "hook" your audience. Catch their interest with a question, a
dramatic tale or a personal experience that relates to your topic. When writing up
a speech or an oral report, you should organize your ideas in the same ways you
would for a report or essay. It must have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.

TASK 1:
Based from your understanding about the subject and the features in
preparing an oral report, write a one- minute oral report about cyber- bullying
observing the elements and parts of oral reports.

EXERCISE:
The students individually deliver a one- minute oral report about cyber-
bullying.

In rating the students’ performance in oral reporting, refer to the Oral

Presentation Rubric on page 29 in your LM.
oral report "cyber bullying"
Introduction

Good afternoon, so before I proceed on my oral presentation I just wanted to ask you....

Is someone in here doesn't saw or use a cellphone or a computer? if there is please raise your hand.

well I think nobody in here is an alien to technology

well I think we already heard about the cyber bullying. yes?

There seems to be rapid growth of teenagers using different technology in our generation. Some of
them use it to do researches and other things which are mostly related to education but most of them
use technology to log in different social networking sites.
Who among you in this classroom only has one account in a specific social networking site? And who
among you has more than one account in different networking sites? Well let’s face the fact that most
teenagers in our generation have many accounts in different social networking sites with different
names, with many different friends all over the world. But do we really know why we use social
networking sites? Is it just to fit in the status quo of today’s generation; is it just to chat with
handsome and beautiful strangers; or to destroy someone’s life which will cause his/her life? Now may I
introduce to you my presentation today entitled “TheCyber Bullying”

Do you have any idea what is cyber bullying?

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes
devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools
including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites.
Examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on
social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.

Why Cyber bullying is Different

Kids who are being cyberbullied are often bullied in person as well. Additionally, kids who are
cyberbullied have a harder time getting away from the behavior.
* Cyberbullying can happen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and reach a kid even when he or she is
alone. It can happen any time of the day or night.

 Anonymity—Cyberbullying allows bullies to avoid facing their victims, so it requires less

courage and provides the illusion that bullies won’t get caught.
 Ignorance of the consequences—The National Council on Crime Prevention reports that in a
survey of teenagers, 81% said they believe others cyberbully because they think it’s funny. Because
they don’t see their victims’ reactions in person, cyberbullies may not realize how much damage they
are doing.
 Social pressure—Some cyberbullies may think their behavior is normal and socially acceptable,
especially when friends egg them on.

who's fault it is?

the bully
in defense of bully
*directly, you could argue that if the bully had not of bullied the victim nothing would happen
let us not forget that these "bullies" ARE children that thought they are old enough to understand what
is going on they may underestimate the consequences
against the bully
*that bullying is a crime and should treated like any other offenses
*that the bully has to think about their action before doing something that can potentially kill
someone
creator of social media
in defense
* the sites have been made and the user have the choice of using it to bully people or not to bully
people.
just like a knife, it can be used for good or for bad, though it is not the fault of the makers of the
social media sites that people around the world are getting bullied
against
*the makers of the sites have created the sites along with the responsibility of caring to their users.
*it is their fault if anyone gets harmed in anyway from their site because if the site was not there the
harm would not occured
these makers of the sites are required to spend some of their millions of dollars on protecting
users from cyberbulying

who's responsibility is it?

parents
against
* parents are always responsible for their children, whatever the case. parents can not play the blame
game ad give responsibility of their to others
defense
* parents can never be overlooking their child 100 perctent of the time, they should not hold the
responsibility if their child has or is currently a victim of cyberbullying
police
against
*police should hold the responsibility for the deaths of children whom die by suicide due to
cyberbullying
defense
*the police have no time for web browsing and lookng for potential victims for cyberbullying

It is clear that the rise in social media sites has seen an increase in the presence of cyber-bullying. Our
aim is to stop this from happening in this world, and this can not be done by putting the responsibility
on others, everyone in the society plays a role and has a responsibility. If everyone understands the
seriousness of this issue and work as one to stop it, there will be NO MORE SUICIDES, AND THIS WORLD
WILL BECOME A SAFER HAPPIER PLACE FOR ALL.
