INTRODUCTION:
Job Satisfaction is the individual employee’s general attitude towards the job the
employee’s feeling about the job is considered under job satisfaction. A job provides monetary
benefits as well as satisfaction. Employees feel satisfied and happy while working on fobs or
after compiling jobs they develop some general attitude while the interface with each other,
with the general public, customers, manager, administration and also members of their satisfied
or highly satisfied sincerely, they may also develop negative attitudes on the satisfaction is
Cole, Task verities, significance and other characteristics are the important factors for
providing satisfaction to employees.
Many employees are satisfied with completes job while other are satisfied with simple
jobs. Employees perceive jobs as satisfying or dissatisfying sometimes the employees
perception may not be in consonance with re3ality. However, cognitive satisfaction is the
important factor to understand employs satisfaction.
Definition
According to field man and Arnold, “Job satisfaction will be defined as the amount of
overall positive affect or feelings that individuals have towards their job”.
Theses scales have face validity in that the questions are clearly about satisfaction with
different aspects as work in addition to which many of the results obtained with them have
been in conformity with predictions one such predictions is that satisfied workers will be absent
less and stay with the organization longer. Social factors are of considerable importance in job
satisfaction, according to a number of only studies. The style of supervision has been found to
affect job satisfaction.
The methods which produce with output on the whole also result in wisher job
satisfaction differences are found between companies and between different part of companies
reflecting particular sources of grievances such as pay working conditions or other matters.
The earlier studies which had shown the great importance of social factors were mainly
or repletion semi-skilled work, quite possibly social relationship are among the fee sources of
job satisfaction.
The nature of the work has been increasingly recognized by industrial psychologists to
be sources of job satisfaction.
Job satisfaction:
If we were to invite views form people on how they feel about their jobs, we world
most probably find that they strong emotional reactions pertaining to their jobs.
This is not unexpected considering that employees spend approximately one third of their lives
at work.
Locke (1976) has given a comprehensive and universally popular definition of job
satisfaction. He defines job satisfaction as a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting
from the appraisal of one’s job or job experience”. It is an end state of feeling and consists of
an employee’s cognitive, affective, and evaluative reactions to his job.
Secondary objective:
1. To understand the problem of the employees in the working condition.
2. To know how employees opinion about work place, pay and benefits
3. To Determine the problems between the professors and management
4. To measure the Teacher job satisfaction level in Arts & Science Colleges
METHODOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
The study was conducted in the selected self-financing Arts and Science
colleges of Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. The city of Vellore is located
between the important South India. The city of Vellore, a district in Tamil Nadu,
has long been known for its stately fort and temple, renowned hospital and
medical college, Parry’s factories and the vast government industrial estate in
nearby Ranipet. Vellore’s history records several dynasties and powers. The
Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas, Hoysalas, Sambhurvarayars, Chalukyas,
Vijayanagar, Bijapur Sultans, Mughals, Marathas, French and the British have
all ruled the area at one point of time or the other. The twenty or more palaces
and forts in the district reflect ancient styles and traditions. The most striking of
these is the famous Vellore, fort,built in the 16th century by china bommi nayak
of vijayanagar. The fort was declared a national monument in 1992.
Palar is the river which provides drinking water, Historically, Vellore is an
important town. Hindus, Christians and Muslims are living in the district, in the
Vellore District there are six colleges for women. Thus there is an opportunity
for women to pressure higher education Vellore is connected well with the
capital of Tamil Nadu. Some part of the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states.
Vellore is internationally known for Christian Medical College Hospital and VIT
University, Vellore Fort, Golden Temple which is in Vellore District.
Sri Akilandeswari College for women is located in Vandavasi town of
Thiruvannamali District. Thiruvannamali district has if women’s colleges, it is
a new district bifurcated from Vellore District. It consists of hilly places. A well
Known for rice mill and paddy cultivation. Jains, Hindus and Christians, live in
the this region, this region is not industrialized.
Research design:
The researcher used descriptive design to study phenomenon, the descriptive,
design is and appropriate one since it studies the magnitude of problems and
explain its totality. This design is most comprehensive in stating the details of
the phenomenon that gives all possible information about the research problem.
Hence researcher has applied descriptive design.
Selection of sample:
The researcher was particular about getting exact data from the respondents.
The researcher oriented the respondents in their colleges collectively for the
provision of factual data and convinced them about the importance of the
research. The respondents were asked to play the role of study participants
instead of just remaining as respondents providing data to the researcher
Thiruvalluvar University comprises fifty – three colleges. Among the affiliated
colleges there are twelve colleges for women only. They are satisfied or
classified according to the district where they are situated. The district wise
classification of women’s college is as follows,
1. Thiruvannamali District:
Kamban college of Arts and Science for women,
Thiruvannmalai.
Sri Akilaneeswari College for women, vandavasi
Idhaya college of Arts and Science for women. Chengam.
Renugambal College,polur
2. Vellore District:
Arcot Sri.Mahalakshmi women’s college, Villapakkam
Auxiliam College Gandhi Nagar,katpadi, Vellore.
D.K.M College for women,sainathapuram, Vellore
Islamiah women’s Arts and Science College, Vaniyambadi.
Marudhar Kesari Jain College for women, Vaniyambadi
Dheivanai College of Arts and Science, Villupuram
After stratifying the colleges based on district classifications. The researcher used simple
random sampling by lottery method to select one college from each district. The selected
colleges were as follows:
1. Thiruvannamalai District:
Kamban college of Arts and Science for women, Thiruvannamalai.
2. Vellore District:
Marudhar Kesari Jain College for women, Vaniyambadi
Tools of the data collection:
A prepared questionnaire is used as the tools of data collections. The
questionnaire is prepared in English well and therefore a questionnaire is used in data
collection.
Sources of data:
The study has been based on both primary and secondary sources of data.
Limitation of the study:
1. The respondents were not ready to answer certain question frankly because
they had a fear over the management.

The above tables show the Self-financing arts and Science College professor of the
respondents like Gender, Age, Education Qualification, Marital status. 100% of the
respondents are Female, No Male respondents because 99% of working in women in women’s
college. It can be stated that female members opt for this profession because it provides soft
job, safety, dignity, etc.
It is found that majority 50% of the respondents are below the age of 30 years old and
indicated the youth hood of teachers.
It is found out from the above analysis that 40% of the respondents are just Post
Graduates. Majority 55% of the respondents have completed M.Phil degree. Just 5% of the
respondents have completed Doctor of philosophy. Thus, it can be stated that majority of the
teachers are M.Phil qualified. The less qualified have to be encouraged to complete Ph.D
It is found that majority 55% of the respondents are Unmarried and 45% of the
respondents are married.

It is found that Education qualification PG with M.Phil & Ph.D it is highly salary and also
experience best salary increasing.
CONCLUSION
College faculty’s job satisfaction is one of the important factors in terms of which the
effectiveness of an institution is evaluated. The Assistant Professor do have planned to
continue their work in the same college, which indicates that they are interested towards the
organisation.
Self-financing Arts and Science College Employee’s satisfaction level Average Because Less
Salary More work load. Organization and management increase the salary of Assistant
professor highly Job satisfaction of the Institution.
