NEW LAW on SECTOR LIBERALIZATION
The Law No: 6461 on Liberalization of Rail Transport in Turkey was
entered into force on 1 May 2013.
Main Objectives:
¾ Restructuring of TCDD as Infrastructure Manager
¾ Establishment of New Railway Undertaking (TCDD Transport JSC)
¾ Opening up of the railway sector for competition
¾ Arrangement of Public Service Obligations
¾ Enabling the private sector to invest in rail infrastructure

¾ Elaboration of necessary secondary legislation by Regulatory Bodies
