Part Number Consolidation
Effective November 2009, the changes described in this document are being made to
optimize logistics and service processes.
1. THERMAL HEAD 1.X MODELS
TH1.0 models will be consolidated into the following 2 models:
• 507-00263A
• 32-4005B
Once stock of 32-4089B is depleted, order 32-4005B instead. No hardware/software
modification is required on the CTP device.
Note: For some types of media, and on Trendsetter 800 S-speed models, it may be
necessary to adjust the beam blockers on the head to 128 pixels. This is to limit the amount
of leakage light caused by the electronically chopped pixels. See Adjusting the Beam
Blockers on a TH1.x (719-00025A) on the TechPlanet Thermal Head Procedures page.
TH1.7 models will be consolidated into 32-4182A once the stock of the old part numbers is
depleted. See the following schematics for details on the affected part numbers.
Follow the instructions that are included with the head to handle particular situations.
Depending on the case, you will have to use a series of firmware commands to make the
new head model compatible with the device (see Thermal Head 1.X Technical Note on page
4).

2. THERMAL HEAD 2.0 AND 2.5 MODELS
Once the stock of the P33 models is depleted, 2400 dpi and 2540 dpi models will be
consolidated into the P22-only variant,.
There will be no changes for 1200 dpi (32-4197A) and 1270 dpi models (507-00050A).
Note: If aTH2.0 is not available, order the equivalent TH2.5 version instead.
• 507-00134A is a drop-in replacement for 32-4186A (but not the opposite)
• 507-00132A is a drop-in replacement for 32-4196A (but not the opposite)

Thermal 2.7 head models are at end of life. The following chart shows the direct conversion
from TH2.7 to the equivalent TH2.5 models, once the regional service stocks are depleted.
Use the following decision tree to determine the head replacement you will need. See also

If you see any of the following errors after installing the replacement head:
• 35793 Product:Maximum plating throughput is xxxx micron/s. yyyy
micron/s exceeds the limit.]
• 38181 MPC: Plotting speed yyyy mm/sec (zzz PPR at nnn RPM) exceeds
licensed limit of xxxx
• 46817 CFL: Feature value for Max Plate Throughput (19) is outside of
it's licensed range
Adjust the drum speed to account for the large swidth of the replacement head:
1. Open the CTP Media Imaging Performance Database.
2. Select the appropriate device and media options.
3. Select Worksheet 4 – Service Setup.
4. Select 224 pixels in Row 47 Column B.
5. In Service Shell:
a) Enter the drum speed required to maintain throughput.
b) Enter the new wpower setting into the hdm slot to be used.

If you see the following error after installing the replacement head:
38149 MPC: The head model installed is incompatible with this machine
1. Type the command:

If you see any of the following errors after installing the replacement head:
• 38149 MPC: The head model installed is incompatible with this
machine
• [02338] The product / head model configuration is invalid
1. Redirect to the TH2 prompt:
TS>> redirect enable
2. Type the command:
TH2 > Sys model p33
WARNING! Configuring a P33 head will degrade plot quality,
and could disable the head. This command must only be run
on P33 heads installed on non-Quantum engines.
Proceed with P33 configuration (Y/N)?
3. Type Y
4. Reset the device:
TH2 > redirect disable
TS>> reset
Note 2
When replacing a TH2.7 with a TH2.5, use the following as the chiller setpoints:
(ThermoNeslab Merlin M33 Chiller)
• Coolant temperature set point - 20° C
• Deadhead pressure setting - 75 psi
